Traction or lack of with controller in slow speed corners

I have tried absolutely everything to try and dial this out. When exiting slow corners with a controller mainly when applying a high amount of lock I can not prevent the rear tyres from spinning. I ...

    Hey racers

    The team has investigated this issue extensively and they haven't found any unusual behavior in slow corners. They've tried to push the Traction control to it's limits based on your provided footage and settings, but they weren't able to find any unusual handling behavior.


    Therefore, we consider this topic closed.

@IanM282 When you say your spinning are you talking about spinning the car or just tires?

If just tires nothing you mention in your setup affects this except linearity.
Something in your setup is WAY off and my thinking is brake bias but without seeing it Im guessing

@BadMayh3m Thank you for your input. I’ve been setting up F1 cars for over 25 years with various games including Geoff Crammonds GP series as well as F1 games from Codemasters.

This is without doubt an issue with the throttle mapping. For example in wet on intermediate tyres I have absolutely no rear limitations whatsoever and that’s with a more aggressive rear end suspension setting.

This has absolutely nothing to do with setup and everything to do with the throttle mapping in dry conditions.

    3rd chicane in Canada (the left-right chicane) is a hell of an exit with traction

    This is a weird one to me.  When the game first came out in the "early access" period with the pre-order I felt the traction out of slow corners, and even some fast paced ones was FAR BETTER than it was in F122.  It had me thinking they FINALLY fixed it!  Combined with the new handling itself in faster corners and such and I felt this game was finally in the right spot to impress me on track enough that I'd forget about all the frustrations OFF the track (Hello... 3 save slots only, no driving rating editing, no team editing etc). 

    However since the last patch/update that was shortly after release that supposebly did something with re-mapping torque or something again... it feels just like last year getting out of corners again.  Yes the rest of the handling still feels improved, but whatever changes they made in that last patch just threw the whole traction thing out the door again.  It honestly feels to me exactly the same as last year now.  Aside from having more grip/downforce in high speed turns, having a bit more ability to control/collect the rear end if it does step out, the game feels exactly the same out of corners as F1 22 did.  It's pretty frustrating because that felt like a huge step forward from the release date, and now it feels like a step backwards again.

      Got this thread passed over to Codies.  and everything else I found when trying to dial out the problem in settings and setups.  Fingers crossed 🤞 They replicate the problem and it’s an easy fix.

      Codemasters are really the biggest joke in gaming industry. Bunch of useless people who don‘t care about their customers. What a joke. This is really an issue. Also happens in Paul Ricard and basically anywhere in low speed corners with full TC on and automatic gear on Controller.

    Any chance you worked out how to counter this ?

    I play on controller with a mixed bag of assists ( I don't deep dive into advanced settings)

    I have low braking on

    Full traction 

    Steering assist off.

    But going from 21 and 22 I've noticed a crazy difference, I struggle massively when coming out of a turn and hitting the throttle.

    In previous years where I attacked the corners in the same way I had no issues but this year especially in the slower corners my back end seems to slide out massively.

    I'm only a casual player but managed to perform above average with the same setups in previous years but this year I'm losing atleast 0.5 a lap for most circuits purely down to wheelspin/drifting in the corners.

    Any help appreciated 👊🏼

      @Tekkerz1993 I’ll keep Flagging this until something is done. It’s definitely an issue. I can replicate it easily. How codies can’t I don’t know.

      In mean time go to controller settings. Calibration. And try increasing steering rate by 5 to 105 and add 5 to steering deadzone. Not sure if it’s going to work but it’s about the only setting I’ve found when trying to dial it out that helps alittle

    I think I’m onto something.  Thanks to @Blackbird90   Posting link to pad using YouTuber:  I watched his video and he set his steering rate to max 160.  I thought it was way extreme.  

    However I’ve said many times when using full TC it feels as though the front wheels dig in and forces the rear to over rotate.  As there is less feel when using full TC compared to NO TC.  It’s almost impossible to catch it. ESP as using full TC tends to encourage using throttle and steering as a on/off switch.    It’s not a slight on those who do.  It takes  hours upon hours  to get the skill to use just the right amount of finesse on controllers due to so little travel.  

    Sorry back to my point.  This year steering is by design slower in slow corners.   So the issue I believe is from what I’ve been seeing playing around with settings tonight is.  Increasing steering rate to max opens the steering so much faster when exiting slow corners.  

    once I added a little steering linearity and deadzone along with throttle linearity at Bahrain on 60% worn mediums.    I started lapping over a second faster per lap and those laps I did were all within 3 tenths of eachother:   Still slower than no TC.   Unfortunately for those who play casually for a few hours here and there.  You’ll need to spend a few hours in calibration settings fine tuning your settings.    Also make sure you reduce FOV in camera settings to help cornering consistency

        @Bernie9955 160 steering rate. 5 steering dead zone and 2 linearity. 65 throttle linearity and 35 brake linearity.

        Using centered TV offset cam. -15 FOV -15 Angle and +15 height. But if you use those settings you’ll need to spend time in OSD customisation moving all the elements out of the way. Especially the practice program’s elements

      Exactly. When the game was released, I was pretty much happy with the default value. Some time ago I changed it to 160% and added 1% of steering linearity and it feels perfect to me so far. Glad it helped us both, meaning it's working. 👍

      After struggling with the Leclerc challenge, I tried Steering Rate 160% with 2% Steering Linearity and was able to make the chicanes much easier, eventually helping me to beat the challenge. It's transformed the game for me, it's enjoyable again. It gives me more rotation in slower corners, more grip and more response and sensitivity. At 100%, it's exactly how you said, it's as if the tyres were digging into the track, causing a sort of low-speed understeer, slowing the front-end down so much, you subconciously throttle up more, causing the rear to spin out.

      Furthermore, I've restarted a career and I'm able to compete at a higher difficulty than before, and to top it off, I'm now easily level with my teammate Ricciardo at Baku at that increased difficulty, whereas before I was several seconds off at 5% lower AI. Crazy difference.

        @s00zster As I’ve said time and time again.. I’m all knowing 😁😂

        For me personally I’ve increased deadzone to 5 and no linearity and that’s working for me. But I think either way works
