What is a proper way to serve a Drive-Through in this game???

Alright I don't know if this is a bug or not, but, title. And hopefully if this is a bug, someone from EA can pass this on to the devs.

I did a league race at Suzuka, and got a DT for speeding under SC on lap 14. Fair enough, I totally zoned out and was only focused on the catch up message. So I thought, "Okay maybe I can serve it under SC?" Nope! Alright, that's understandable, I'm used to that rule from experiencing it in NR2003, can't clear a penalty under yellow. Fast forward to lap 16, a SC restart, go into pit road, it drives through with no prompt to go into the pit box (lap 17 now), but the penalty stays. Okay, annoyed, but I have three laps to- oh hey a SC, can't serve it now. Fast-forward another two laps (lap 19) to the SC restart, go past pit road, and only in sector 3 on lap 20 am I told it's my last lap to serve the drive-through, which I do.

What do you mean it's my LAST LAP? Why didn't my DT serve on a restart when it didn't prompt me to box?? Unless I'm totally blind, there's nothing in the F1 regulations, nor was there an in-game message that stated "Hey, you can't serve this on a restart, you have to go past the timing line and then come in." Which is pretty ridiculous in its own right. If a 3rd SC came out in that period, I probably would've been disqualified.

Of course I understand the whole, "Well don't speed under SC then," but the process to serve it is just so confusing when I get prompted with pit-entry lines and there's no prompt to box. So like, I served it the first time, it just never registered.

  • Pretty sure you can only serve DT’s or any penalty for that matter in fully green conditions. If you pit on the lap the SC comes in it’s not green until cars cross the finish line…
