Why does EA Desktop sniffing packet data?

Why is EA Desktop using a packet sniffer (Wireshark?) as part of its program suite?

My "Swiss Army Knife" forensic toolkit discovered the packet sniffer within the EABackgroundService. The legality of EA using a packet sniffer is questionable in many jurisdictions. This is equivalent to  "Man in the Middle" malware, obtaining your confidential and sensitive information, such as online bank account information.  I won't go into the details of how this could be exploited, that would be a topic found on the darknet.

These files are stored on a PC running Windows 11 under "\Program Files\EA Desktop\"
