Dynamic Weather/Track/Tyres
It’s that time of year where everyone posts their wish lists, and whilst I’m confused as to what ‘cool down laps’ and the ability to walk up and down the paddock would really add to the game, I have a very big request that would go a long way to improving the actual racing experience, and it’s something that was introduced as far back as F1 2011, and somehow lost to time.
Dynamic/Live Track!
Having a more realistic weather system that represents what we see in real races EVERY time it rains. The direction that it’s coming in, and what corners we can expect it to hit first.
Is it try in Sector 1, but wet in Sector 2?? How will drivers change up racing lines and communicate with their engineers to find the optimum crossover point?
In older games back on the Xbox 360, we saw wet and dry lines. We saw puddles forming that could cause aqua-plaining. These amazing features seem to have disappeared!!
At the moment, it’s boring. You just drive around until DRS gets disabled and your engineer tells you to pit. When it rains, it rains across the whole track to the same consistency. What happened to the dynamic weather? Also, can we get an actual weather radar on the setup screen? The current % display is really out-dated and not useful at all. It doesn’t even show when you use 1 shot qualy what the race weather will be…. That’s an oversight!
Dynamic Tyre Model… Why can’t we flat spot a tyre? The wear rate is also very predictable and doesn’t give players much opportunity to change a strategy on the fly. Almost every 50% race, which is standard for leagues just end up as a simple 1 stop with everyone putting on the same lap. Same pit stop times and same running order.
Rather than adding Cool Down Laps, or throwing 900 insight things at the player every time they load up, can we start to introduce features that actually add to the racing on track! That’s ultimately what we play the game for. We want to feel like an F1 driver in a race, communicating with an engineer, that also needs an enormous overhaul… (They’re not very informative. They constantly tell you pressure sensors have failed every race, and tell you ‘there are NO plans for a safety car, as you’re watching it come out of the pitlane. That’s an issue that’s been in the game for years, even after Marc recorded new dialogue…. It’s frustrating!)
What do we think? Dynamic Track/Weather?
