An observation I've also made with the AI and depending on your AI difficulty setting, it is hard to break away from them. This was never the case in F123 which to this day had the best AI of any.
I can break DRS occasionally early on, but it's like the AI are automatically programmed to send a driver out of the pack to hunt you down and reel you back in. Then the rest of the front pack follow.
I don't mind this if it's realistic. But if I'm driving in a top team with fast race pace, despite either using up battery or not they always seem to reel you back in. Unless it's set on an easy difficulty.
I'll say it again, the AI straight line speed on some tracks is so unrealistic and enjoyment sapping. Just as it was in F122.
I honestly do think there is huge potential in F124, I really do. There are a lot of things I like over F123.
Unfortunately until the awful AI issues are fixed it's a considerable departure from F123.
Needs much more work.

The biggest problem for me is that if I can't break away from the AI, and the AI can't break away from me, my strategy is basically to sit in second place in the group and wait until the last lap, then use all my ERS to overtake.
If I do overtake earlier, I just end up having a big group behind me with no way to pull away. The only good news is that the AI is useless at overtaking, but then it makes it boring..
- IanM2828 months agoSeasoned Ace@ADunky Spot on! It's disappointing that this wasn't spotted early in development and investigated and resolved much sooner.
I sound like a broken record, but the AI in F123 was in a different league compared to F124.
In my opinion significant adjustments are absolutely mandatory in order to make F124 both enjoyable and worth the effort.
Let's hope they can improve it, I'm sure they can. - 8 months ago@ADunky This is it. The strategy is always undercut to get out of the drs train and jump them all in pits or if it's the last stint wait until the last lap and overtake and empty the buttery out to stay ahead. Same tactic works every race. That's what makes the game boring ATM. I actually really like the handling but the ai is a big step backwards

In regards to the AI straight line speed I am curious to what wing settings they are using at tracks like Bahrain, Spain and Miami. Is there a way to see what it is? I'm right there with them or beating them in corners with the difficulty set to 100-105. But I have to run my wings at such low settings to have a chance on the straights. This makes the car feel like it is floating or on ice and not fun to drive. I would like to see this trend even out a bit. ERS management is critical to being able to stick with the top 3. Perhaps that is how it was intended.

"MyTeam - PS5 players potentially getting a "customisation item removed" error after applying sponsor logos to their MyTeam livery"
I thought the issues were related, but perhaps not, though while I don't have to reapply all of the sponsor logos to my car, I do still have to set my team colors for the UI every time I start the game.
- ScarDuck148 months agoLegend@Hansenhaus Almost irrelevant what wings they use. Their speed is determined by difficulty level. Higher it is faster they go.
- 8 months ago@ScarDuck14 Thanks for the reply. If this is the case then the cornering speed does not scale in proportion to the straight line speed.
It feels like the AI cars are able to have more downforce with lower wings than the player giving them that top speed advantage. Once I get my wings between 10 and 20 my straight line speed is comparable but the handling suffers too much. No grip on acceleration and that feeling of driving on ice in certain corners.
