f1 2024 PSvr2
Formula 1 2024 MUST come with PSVR2 availability. GT7 is definitely a game changer for lovers of speed and racing simulators. The Formula 1 category is by far one of the most modern sports categories...
The game definetly should include PSVR2 support, I think it’s a no brainer: racing games are one of the best uses for VR and it should be relatively easy to implement as you’re only inside the car, not running around, climbing, picking up items and all the other stuff one does in most other types of games. The PC version of F1 also includes VR so it’s already something the studio is familiar with.
But will it include PSVR2? Somehow I doubt it. The core game is lacking in so many other ways, as there’s no alternate track layouts or different F1 cars from the past, just those super cars that are a useless gimmick. A lot of other racing games are way more complete as game while EA is just happy selling an yearly update as a ”new” game in full price without ever making the core game anything more than it already is.
If I’m not mistaken it’s the same team making the -24 edition that made the -22 version and that one was especially lacking in so many ways. So if anything I’m expecting a downgrade from the current -23 version and since even the driver line up is the same there’s no reason to buy the same game again if it does not include PSVR2 support.
All the online content also always goes away once the new edition is released so making these games with an expiration date is also quite dumb in my opinion.
And yes, most people don’t have the PSVR2 so that’s one reason it’s not a priority to support it. But it’s also a bit of the chicken and the egg -type of a thing: there’s a lack of quality games for the PSVR2 so people don’t have many reasons to get one and since most gamers aren’t getting one there’s not many studios making games for it - or even making existing ones compatible with it.
I understand those who have PSVR2 think it’s awesome and I’m sure it is. But you also need to take into account other factors. Most people are not bothered about VR. Especially at the price. Huge amount of PS5 owners don’t even play racing games. I’m also willing to bet majority or people that play GT7 don’t use or even consider using PSVR2. Then factor in, as I’ve said before only 2 AAA games support it. Both are Sony games. If they didn’t support it the only other games that do are average AA games at best. Sony have themselves reported they are disappointed with sales of PSVR2 and are now working on adapting PSVR2 to work on PC. Because PC doesn’t just use VR for gaming. It’s has endless amounts of Applications it’s used for.
Then EA like all AAA publishers and developers don’t set trends. They follow them. They wait for other developers to come up with a successful new IP. Then copy it.
Until there are many many more GOOD games that support PSVR2. Which people want. You won’t see any of the big developers adding support on its games. Especially as they can add it to any of their games after they release.
Lastly… If EA (All AAA developers) thought for a second there was profit in adding PSVR2 support to any of their current or upcoming games. They would add it. The only reason GT7 and Horizon are supported are because they are Sony games.
VR has failed to gain mainstream traction since rje 90s. Most people don’t want to or like the idea off sitting at home for extended periods with a headset on. Funny but humans actually like reality and feel uncomfortable, anxious and vulnerable when closed off from it.
Also watching news on the layoffs Sony have just made. Studios they had working on new VR titles have either been redirected to work on other projects such life service. Or been shut down. And also as I said earlier Sony are working on PSVR2 to be compatible with PC because PSVR2 are not selling. PS5 consoles sales are also down and well below expectations. I
About VR.
I have a Quest 2, bought to try F1 '22.
Dissatisfied with the experience. VR didn't wow me, the game was poor compared to F1 2021.
You're either a glasshole or you're not.
So all those nagging....you're a tiny, tiny proportion of the userbase. Sony can't sell PSVR2 to it's own customers.
Sidenote: The guy in the video has a voice that would dry water.
