F1 24 is almost excellent, but a tired game with too many unresolved issues

I am just a casual but enthusiastic player of the F1 series, and again I have purchased the latest incarnation, F1 24. For the most part it is still enjoyable, but yet again it falls way short in terms of bugs and numerous other issues raised by so many players. Just look at all the complaints in the forums that never get acknowledged or resolved, and in some cases have been present for years. However, I can live with that to an extent and knew this before I bought the game, but it's also the smaller details that are really annoying. It does make me wonder who actually plays the finshed game at Codemasters, because surely they would see and hear the same as I do! My particular complaints include the ridiculous exit from the pits when in auto-pit mode that spits you out so harshly that crashes out of the pits when rejoining most tracks are often likely; when doing time trials the game can often cause you to crash too when it releases you from the 'auto-drive mode - the times I've had to re-start the lap caused by track limit violations because of this unpredicatable behavour is so annoying. There are very limited and repetitive 'engineer' comments and advice, often intruding well out of context. Other commentary is also very limited in scope and overly repetitive and should be much, much better and up to date. Of course, I can mute most of them, but then that takes away some of the immersiveness. Also, some of the commentry being blasted out via the loudspeakers to the spectators is very, very old and used multiple times over the years with no changes! One major complaint is the 'dirty car' look after visiting an area off track. This is totally awful and unrealistic. It is also incredibly annoying when, say, I've completed an excellent (almost lol) Time Trial lap and want to record the replay so I can show off, only for the car to look ridiculously 'dirty'. UPDATE - I'm sitting on the grid at Melbourne about to start a new race and my car is ALREADY filthy!! WHY? !! This feature really needs removing or a way to disable it. Lastly for now, when driving in a wet race, rain does not dissipate from the visor, instead, just a few trickling drops totally unaffected by the wind at speed. Again, totally untrealistic (GT7 is spot on). That's some of my complaints for the moment, and I hope these issues will be addressed immediately. Thank you. Doug G.

UPDATE! - Are you kidding me? !! Latest version now has black bits falling off the rear of cars that disappear into thin air after any slight off circuit excursion, or tap of another car. It is awful!! Totally ridiculous!! Who the heck did this and thought it looked good? !! Seriously, I'm now convinced no-one at Codmasters actually bothers to play just one race !!

  • I agree so much about the engineer's comments. They seem to be the same for 10 years! They could improve them and make them more interactive.

To me it's getting very boring and NOT worth the money they charge for it. Let's face it, it's just a copy and paste year after year with the same annoying repetitive bugs.

The frustration for most is that F123 was so much better than this utter garbage they have released for F124.

We have less race wear like helmets etc, they have now been removed from the store and placed in that absolutely atrocious season pay and grind option.

When you consider what the current F1 manager games are doing it makes an absolute mockery of what EA and Codemasters are doing.

Sales are down this year and the fact that they've completely and blatantly ignored their loyal customers and community with the most simplest of requests, the same will be for them in F125.

How can they charge £90 for a game that is totally inferior the the last one with actual important game content removed?

They have without doubt lost my pre-order every year going forward until they wake up and actually provide us with what we have been asking for.

It's so obviously clear that this game was rushed out with very little care and attention. Additionally an all new career mode? Hardly.

The list of issues are embarrassing.

    Helmets removed from the store

Worst AI I've ever seen in any racing game genre

Engine sounds upon TV camera replay don't match

General on board engine sound poor

AI too fast on the straights (same as F122)

    Handing model a total disaster

    Same repetitive commentary

    Same repetitive engineer chat

It could have been so much better. But if they continue with this same trend going forward, they will loose more and more customers.
