@kevincal40 Over years people have posted on here or back on Codies forums. Obviously seeking a little help and guidance. More than you’d expect. People were almost apologetic and asking not to be hated on when they mentioned they were using assists. And not so much now. But when game sold good numbers and especially on codemasters forums. Elitist were always lurking to pounce. But Elitists couldn’t help but shoehorn in a every opportunity they use zero assists top 1% time trial can lap 110 Ai in a 5 lap race using only the brake pedal on their SimRig that costs thousands upon thousands and for that reason alone the game should be specifically designed exactly for them.
Around the time I became ever present. And my love off chat and banter I got to befriend based OG regulars that organically would call out and mock elitist Git Gudery and defend all legit players and play styles and levels. The settings and assist are there to help people adjust the game so noobs the Aliens can get as little or as much as they want or need.
Wasn’t long before Elitists realised no one cared about how great elitists were. Especially when they offered no practical help to people other than “skill issue” “Git Gud”. From self proclaimed elites with all the high end gear but F1 simcade is as far sim as they go. Skill issue is just because someone buys the best SimRig doesn’t make them or entitle them with skill.
For a time Elitist would always post how great they are at release off new game. Until witty mocking banter quickly shut them down
This year i havnt seen many Elitists. More moderate range off pad and wheel players: But this year game sales are a disaster apparently and the likely reason is another year another bad release. Less players.
My final thought. If you have no ambition becoming a competitive racer and like me. To old, bad eyes and I’m only going to get slower. I’ll race careers modes. Offline. Allyou have to worry about is getting what you want or have time for. All assists 0 Ai 110ai. Set. Game to you
If you play public lobbies. Expect bad drivers and bad intentions. It’s public lobbies that a 5 year old can access. Don’t let it stress you out.
If you want to race against players that take racing and keeping out cheats seriously. For the overall enjoyment off everyone. Best option is join a league. Plenty to choose from amateurs to pros. With various leagues having varying assists options. However the downside is setting aside and being available at specific time and day every week.
If you fancy yourself as a future E-Sports champion. But a beginner levels off skill. I’d suggest Time Trial. Concentrate on getting consistent laps times lap after lap across different types the tracks. Then if you were using assists. Turn FullTC instance down to med. and repeat lap after lap. Then turn off another assist and repeat. Also race Ai in career or GP. To help get used to racing other cars. Once you’ve got yourself good pace. With or without assists then. Attempt racing real people.
Some will say I’m wrong and jump in at the deep end no assists and public lobbies. Yes but that will result in rage, sweat and frustration and only learning that race public lobbies are more likely to hate on the game
