F1 World. Do you play it?

Do you play F1 World? If only you could put a poll on here…

Im curious to see people’s thoughts on this mode, as it never seems popular in the comments. I do wonder what the player data says to the dev team.

For me, I don’t play it….
I gave it a go at launch and did not understand it, races were too easy for little reward. It felt pointless and a waste of time, so I haven’t touched it since…

A major frustration is how much it has killed Podium Pass, with all customisable items replaced with F1 world bits….
Every time I play the game it throws these things at me on overwhelming quantities….
I have no idea what “Key Insight” is, or why I should care… but I seem to unlock this stuff by the shedload…

It’s also filled my in-game inbox with this stuff requiring me to “claim” the items every time I unlock them rather than simply being added to my stash automatically,

This is a slow process each time and important messages get lost in the inbox… It’s not user friendly and another frustrating experience from playing the game.

Is it supposed to be going for a FIFA Ultimate Team vibe to get players to spend real money? I don’t think F1 is that sort of game. You don’t have thousands and thousands of drivers and combinations like football players…

Anyway, sound off on some of your thoughts on F1 World and let us know if you play it, what you like and dislike about it, or how you would improve it?
Keep it civil and constructive. We don’t want this shut down by the mods.

  • I used to enjoy Podium Pass, and trying to earn a little more XP from things like Time Trial to unlock a new livery or helmet…

But since all you ever unlock now is some more KEY INSIGHT I’ve lost all interest in it and just ignore it…

Depends exactly what part you mean.

    Fan Zone-no.

    Grand Prix-sometimes

    Time Trial-no

    Multiplayer-no

Solo Events-Might if I understood the rewards I’d get assuming its not stickers or for that car in my garage

    Compendium-i’m not 9

    Showroom-I looked maybe 4 times

So overall no, I don’t really use it.

In all honesty I've never even entered the screen to even bother looking at it. To me it's just fictional rubbish with zero appeal.

The recourses spent on creating it could and should have been used to improve the base of the game and implement many more realistic features and experiences for the player.

Just think how good and successful the game could be by improving the core element of it. There is so much potential here and EA just aren't seeing it at all.

I think most people are hoping it gets binned for F125. But I would not be surprised one iotta if it stays.

@AEF251 Generally the mode where you upgrade your F1 World Car with all the insight bits, I meant!
It seems like a feature that not many people wanted or play, and wouldn’t miss at all…

    Fanzone, cool idea, poorly implemented.
Earning points as you play towards a league table for your favourite team/driver is generally a fun idea, but like everything else with these new features, it offers no reward or incentive!
Perhaps we could unlock the winning driver’s helmet design to use, or the teams real livery/special edition livery to use on our F1 World Car. Or unlock themes for our main menu? Maybe unlock a real drivers team radio clip for when we win a race? Are these not decent ideas?

The driver career season things are a nice addition, but they’re just quick fire easy to win scenarios that are more tedious to complete than fun. They could use some improvement. More in depth scenarios in longer races would be better.

Compendium? It’s not for me, and I know a lot of players say “I’m not 9”, but some players are!! And the game must have features for everyone. It’s not for me, so I just ignore this feature. But I guess it’s fun for some younger players!

I just want a return of the classic podium pass unlocks. If you must include F1 World in F1 25, then it needs a complete overhaul!!
I’d rather they spent time and resources and added F3 to career mode. A more immersive and in depth experience as a rookie driver starting out. A fun learning curve as the cars get more powerful. A new car to experience. And 30 new young drivers to choose from in My Team, a mode that was stripped to its bones and left for dead this year…

To be a little more constructive, I never had any interest in driving or racing the F1 World car. To me it offers nothing in the way of realism. I also thought it felt more of a FIFA thing as well. That type of thing just doesn't work in the F1 games.

Most players want to experience driving for their favourite teams and be teammates with your favourite drivers. To be able to compete in a full season as it's the closest we will ever be to racing in F1.

The two player career mode and single player career mode is by far the best thing about the game series. Could it be improved further? Yes absolutely it can and I think by scrapping F1 world and improving both the single player career and two player career, would bring huge benefits to both the player and EA and CM.

Fanzone, personally I think is just a gimmick, I just can't see the point in wasting time and effort to implement such a thing.

I think too if the live season content podium pass was filled with better helmets for a start, would be a night and day improvement. Other realistic content could also be unlocked. I'm not a huge fan of this live season stuff. But if it's here to stay, then instead of filling it with the F1 world stuff, try to improve it and include items that offer much more insensitive to win.

  • @SDGMatt I agree with your original post. Personally, I've hardly touched F1 World, but my guess is that it is pretty popular with the younger crowd and more casual players. Those are the types of player who don't typically frequent these boards, which is why you don't often see positive feedback here regarding F1 World.

Last year I tried it out for a while. This year don’t bother. Its tedious and overcomplicated IMO, but hey I’m old so yes it may appeal to some. But don’t get any satisfaction from doing the grind for all these random bits of stuff. The grind should be simple, just one currency, spend it how you like, which would be fine if there was worthwile things to buy

F1 world is there to build up the “other stuff” that racing games need for casual play so I kind of get it but the other typical features - livery, photos, replays etc -  that drive engagement are still subpar and need some love

I do mostly TT and grandprix. Career and My team would also appeal but the longstanding bugs, scripting and other issues make it hard to want to put in the effort. The fact that AI don’t use tire temps negates a big aspect of F1 and the lack of consistency of the AI level from track to track also limits desire to spend time in those part of the game

Fan zone - meh for me, why can’t I just not enter it?

For me, I exclusively play Time Trial and Grand Prix mode the most often just to practice for my league races, and they are the ONLY online races I take part in...

I've dabbled with career, but just find it repetitive. I wouldn't mind trying 2 player career mode. Although that's a mode that could be a lot of fun opening up to more drivers. It would be a fun addition to league racing to have to develop your car between races and challenge yourself against real drivers instead of AI.

I've got very little interest in open lobbies. 5 lapped "Ranked" races are a waste of time and need to be improved!! I used to love racing 25%-50% races online and having to use strategy and consistency to win rather than avoiding mayhem for 5 laps
