In VR Resoultion seems to have a limit?

When I change my resolution in the Steam video settings or the Steam per app settings no matter what I set it to once in the game it reverts down to a lower resolution. I'm not 100% positive but I feel this is only since the last update. Does anyone know what causes this? It is only happening with this game.
