Patch 1.14 Hotfix Brake changes?

As requested in the other thread, I've created this one to find out if anyone else is noticing any changes to their braking performance after the Patch 1.14 Hotfix update on Thursday.

From my experience, I installed the patch on Xbox Series X, I use the gamepad and over time I'd finally got my settings just right to get the car as stable and responsive as possible.

I'm not the fastest, but I'm very consistent and can put in about 15 TT laps within a tenth or 2 of each other....

I noticed in TT mode using my telemetry racing line that I was overshooting corners after braking in the same spots. Brake Pressure was on 100% but felt like it was on 90%. I had so much understeer and struggled to get the car slowed to hit the apex. Trail-braking felt spongey and numb with almost no vibration through the pad. I tried a couple of Ranked races and a Grand Prix and was having to brake around 20m earlier than usual.

I will try to record some footage and share my setup and pad settings tomorrow morning.

It was honestly so noticeable that I'm certain it's not a placebo effect here.

Can anyone else share info and feedback? Please try to keep it constructive and upload some clips where possible. Don't just say you're having issues to bash the game! Credit where it's due we got a quick fix for 1.14, but we've also had unexpected knock on effects from patches too!

I think you mean 1.15 hotfix? I am going to log on in a bit to test. Does it feel like they coded ABS on into braking even though we run no assists with ABS off?

  • Exactly what SDGMatt describes is what i experience since the last update so no need typing the same of me, good description SDGMatt 👍

I´m on PC and SDGMatt on Xbox and we have the same experience... Not a coinsedent then..

So please if someone else have the same leave feedback because this needs adressing

Honestly, I guarantee the devs messed with the braking to prevent lockups rather than trying to fix the smoke. Therefore hindering those of us who race with no ABS.

They will gaslight us to the point of saying they never touched the brakes, but we all know they most likely don't know how to fix the smoke (as that previous patch showed) so they just mimicked ABS on in the code.

Only played the free 1.15 update since the beta, so can't comment on 1.14.

Have you tried resetting the brake values, e.g. pressure 90 and save then 100 and save? Only saying this as the UI is sometime "disconnected from the bucket" and this happens on updates....frequently.

Not saying it's a solution but it might explain the two sides.

Yes, I noticed that too. I have to really step on the brakes to get it to lock up. I have to brake earlier than before the hotfix (1.15).

It looks as if the excessive smoke is simply counteracted by reducing the braking power. That can't be the case.

I ride with Fantatec on the PC, V3 pedals, ABS and co deactivated. I can or have to adjust the tolerance of the brake pedal, but this leads to the same problem again. It locks up and smokes extremely again. Once again, symptoms are being treated instead of eliminating the causes.

It's really pointless to wait or hope for a sensible solution to all the problems. The only thing that really helps here is a new game from scratch.
