Don't worry, soon we'll have on all-electric cars (i.e. Formula E) and then every car will sound like an RC toy 😉 - Nuvolarix2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@ScarDuck14 Lando is actually not new to let Max pass, even when he could really match him in a 2023 race, but unfortunately they are all going into that, also Leclerc, who is probably the last one to "avoid fight", is starting to do the same. But the DRS rule makes overtakes too easy I fear, or at least in the most of the track they may improve DRS zones with the purpose to aid fight, not easy overtakes.
On the other hand we have to say that only RB seems, once again, on another planet: while McLaren-Mercedes were defending quite well in Jeddah, with uncertain result (Piastri-Hamilton, and later Hamilton-Norris), Ferrari was quite similar (Leclerc passed Hamilton and Norris but with fresher tyres and not so easily), Red Bull with its aero and DRS passes too easily (look Perez-Leclerc)
So the solution is: disqualify RB for 2024 and 2025 🥳
In the 2026 with the new rules they may get back 👿

Well, someone suggested here that DRS should be reversed - allowed when gap is big and turned off when it comes to close fights.
I agree, it would show the skill of drivers and how well they can use slipstream. - EA_Vendcera2 years ago

I actually like DRS. Sure it's not perfect and in some situations give too much of an advantage but overall it did make racing closer with more overtakes.
@EA_Vendcera I tend to agree, I think if it was eliminated entirely, it would be like going back to the early 2010's with a lot of processional races. People overestimate the effect the 2022 regulation changes have had on overtaking, especially now that teams have had a few years to work out the zero side... I mean flaws from their designs, bringing the cars that don't say Red Bull or Alpine closer together.
That said you could still adjust the DRS rules, either alter the rules to allow for a smaller gap or maybe not allow the gap to run the entire width of the wing. Such rules could also be circuit specific where tracks that are notoriously hard to overtake would have a much more generous DRS than those that are known to produce more natural overtaking.

In regards to the DRS (for the whole conversation haha) my 2 cents are that DRS as is is fine maybe even longer DRS zones on some tracks like Baku where they shortened it too far.. HOWEVER they absolutely need reduce the effectiveness so instead of 20kph gain it should rather be ~12 kph at most. Drivers can still get closer and creep up more slowly so defensive driving can be done more safely (less eratic when there isnt a speed difference of 35kph) plus it will rather give them the chance to outbreak instead of zooming past. Only giving them DRS when they are further than 1 sec ahead would have made it 100% impossible for McLarens to pass Mercs at Jeddah, you need a top speed advantage at most tracks to pass, especially with how close current gen cars are, either ~3 seconds per lap faster to overtake in corners or get a top speed advantage

@P4st3l1ak Honestly I'd probably be okay with this too, the only thing is it really will highlight the power differences between the cars during overtake situations. @EA_Rtas In theory this should be a positive though in a sporting sense as teams should be rewarded for their efforts in creating a more powerful engine than their competitors, just like RB is being reward for creating a car that generates massive downforce with no drag during a period of aero sensitive regulations. Similarly, Mercedes was rewarded during the "Turbo-Hybrid" Era for having a better engine than everybody else. That's the risk you run with a "formula" series vs a "spec" series is that someone gets it really right and runs away with it.
In this case, at this time, it probably just makes things worse though as RB probably has the best engine and aero while Alpine might have the worst engine and aero.

well, yes but it would also show who's braver on brakes 😉
Just to look at F2, they have stock cars and you can see overtakes even in DRS trains ... - SteveJackson2 years agoHero (Retired)

Just a heads up but it’s a very sad day for you all. I be champion no more. Won’t go into details as no point. But I made a joke about something that I shouldn’t have. I’ll stil be here but stripped and shamed 😂
@ScarDuck14 Hmmmm. On one hand I feel bad for you as that's pretty rough. On the other hand now I have to be disappointed with you because...
A: I was hoping you could pull some strings if a Beta invite didn't come through and now you've gone and thrown your superpowers down the drain.
B: Also I now have to go scanning through all of your posts to see which one got heavily redacted to reverse engineer your crime.
Cheers

- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@TheRagebeard And I’m blaming you for getting me to post that very long post. Which leaves me with egg on my face. 🍳
Not on here was on an internal board: I made a joke poking fun at something that wouldn’t have twitched an eyebrow where I’m from. But so my filter didn’t think it would have hit as bad as it did. So I should have known better. It’s on me. As I chat faster than I think I don’t always catch what I should @ScarDuck14 So how are you liking the taste of freedom and Independence?
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@TheRagebeard I feel like buying Hell divers and join the fight and spreading democracy

Real races may be boring…. Big absolutely love these nightlight videos and still give me something to look forward to
@ScarDuck14 Sorry to bring this up, but I couldn't help but notice that the thread for the "Beta registration is now open" lists Tomski_PL as being the last reply despite the fact you and I carried on for several more messages after that, including your rant about champions being free to criticize EA. I know you say that's not what got you in trouble, but it still seems interesting that they're trying to censor it or something. I smell shenanigans and EA did a poor job of covering their tracks.

@TheRagebeard ou mean this back and forth? Sometimes threads get merged and the end result may look messy. The comments still show up to me.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@TheRagebeard Naw it is what it is. With the thread it’s a case of people just post new threads without bothering to look if there is already a relevant thread. As people get excited when they see Beta registration is now open. They often just post a new thread. So to stop there being countless threads on the same subject the CMs merge them into a more informative and relevant thread such as mine😁
As for why I got kicked out. I know exactly why and although I stand by the fact what I said may have offended some but it doesn’t mean it was offensive. However as I come from a country where our way of showing love for eachother is insults and banter. Closer you are to a bro. More brutal you can be. Where people we don’t like we are patronisingly polite. As I like everyone I tend to on occasion drop my filter and say something off the cuff that other people’s sensibilities are not accustomed to some off the things I’ve said and feel what I’ve say on occasions is from a place off hate. Where infact it’s more that I like everyone and thus feel more comfortable and drop my guard and blurt out things I know I shouldn’t. End of the day in this day and age I gave EA no choice. And as soon as i got DMed I knew what my fate would be. Im not angry at a single member on EA staff or EA. And spent last couple of hours saying goodbye to many people who have become friends. Only thing I am annoyed about is that I put a friend in a position where it fell to him to swing the axe. But still I consider him a friend.
Everyone who knows me knew what I said wasn’t me being intentionally offensive to anyone other than me and me jokingly fearing a thing. And have mostly contacted me through channels I do have access to 😁. I like chatting cause I like to get to know people. But I’m my own worst enemy at times: As I know saying pretty much anything seems to trigger someone. It’s the reason I stay away from other forms of social media. I have no time for hateful trolls.
But all that said.. I’m now paranoid this post will get me banished from here. Then where would I go🤷🏻♂️

If you look at it as this year's F1 season. I'm not surprised. 😜

@ScarDuck14
Sorry to hear that. But I am for freedom of speech and if someone too sensitive and takes jokes personally, it's their fault, not yours.
(unless you did something really wrong, then you need to be bent over the knee and get your backside painted red with a wooden spoon 😉 ) - Cpayne322 years agoHero+@ScarDuck14 How shocking 😂 well you will still be a champion in our hearts… also as further punishment you are disqualified from the poll drain cover competition
- Cpayne322 years agoHero+@ScarDuck14 If you do we should play together
