Re: F1® 24 [Megathread] Handling Feedback after patch 1.3

@Rapheal629 Nice!! Glad it helped. Compared to previous games I’ve hardly touched this years. But the time I have spent on it has been playing around in the settings menu.

As these game always take a few months to get patched to a point where they have fixed most of the worst bugs. I don’t bother actually playing. I’ll put a couple off hundred hours in the settings menus and also starting a my team career doing a few races. Delete and restart picking a different engine and selecting different starting options. So when game get sufficiently fixed. I have settings dialed in and what direction suits me better when starting my proper play through

@ScarDuck14 I haven't put a lot of play through this one yet due to being in Canada for the GP literally a week after the game released to which I felt if they just tuned out the pointy front end, I'd have probably have done a season of Driver Career by now by how the grip felt on throttle, I actually liked it, but as soon they messed with the handling it hampered the on throttle on my settings, I was like: "Uh oh, not again, F1 22 unpredictable traction again", genuinely felt like I was playing an iteration of F1 22, then applied your calibration and it suddenly went back to F1 23 which I liked so it finally feels like I am not on ice anymore, but have decent pace still, just need to look how this now translates in a race pace vs AI where I'm not bogged down by TC Full. Still think they're a bit OP in Saudi S3, no matter what I do, back straight, blast past me even though I'm engaging Overtake button, probably too draggy I guess or quirks with the cars, but I need that for stability in the sweeping corners.

It's interesting that you wait until the game is sufficiently fixed before a proper play through, how do you gauge when the time is right for you? Codies, I'm afraid don't have the best track record of having stable F1 games. I sometimes wonder how it is that they fix some bugs one year and then the next game comes and they're back again, it's as if they use an old repository version then build upon it hence it has old bugs in the next game. Did the dry tyre on a wet track thing happen last year? That in my eyes is unacceptable, I'm sorry, that should've been squashed before release

@Rapheal629 Bugs come back because they were not fixed in the first place. Depending on the bug. Sometimes they add a game script or cheat to make it look like the bug is fixed. other times they disable features.

How do I decide? After they patch bugs that would affect my MyTeam career: But I wait to see players feedback on here and if they have actually been fixed. While I’m waiting I will test and try and find workarounds for bugs that affect gameplay. Think it’s been so bad last year and this year is because F1 world shares game mechanics with other parts of game but due to various F1 world events having specific objectives. I’ve been told by someone that knows about coding etc. it’s possible that an event in F1 world. Say race A wet race at Silverstone. So You are locked into starting on wets or intermediates. Instead of getting free tyre choice. So when you come to race in career at Silverstone. It’s sunny and you pick your normal strategy. Only to find when race starts all cars have sets on 🤷🏻‍♂️. That’s an extreme example. More likely it’s caused lots small conflicts some we notice some we do.

Saudi Arabia on the back not a straight is an odd one. I will have DRS and right behind what should be much faster car. But find Ai in much slower cars and no DRS make up a second and trying to pass in the last corner.

Also I was a EA champion so only reason I’ve had the last 3 games was because EA gifted them to me. Otherwise I wouldn’t buy game until it was on sale

@ScarDuck14 So essentially they copied the logic over from F1 World and not bothered to realise that it could lock the tyre allocation for races in career, bit of an embarrassing oversight don't you think considering the Career mode and MyTeam are outside the scope of the whole F1 World ecosystem.

Hmm could be my setup then, I'm slow in S3 and they all eat me up on the back curve shall we say

I so much prefer F124 on controller. F123 was nothing short of an absolute disaster for controller players when using full TC. May as well have had it turned off. Worst experience ever on any racing game.

With F124 I never tried the handling before the changes made. But personally for me I think it's great now.

@IanM282 Was a weird thing with 23 when using Full TC. As without on controller it wasn’t a problem. But using controller with out TC is hard for most players unless you’re willing to waste your life away spending hours Gitting Gud. But still despite thousands off hours using controller on these games: I still find myself flashbacking more often than I’d like to admit 😁

@ScarDuck14 Agreed and I remember our daily conversations on it on the forum last year. I did mitigate the rear end problem after your recommendation of 160 steering rate and some throttle linearity application.

Still remained an issue though. As you well know, the likes of Baku and the stadium section at Mexico was like Bamby on ice.

Hence why F124 is miles ahead in terms of enjoyment. Hope you are enjoying it too.

@IanM282 Some of the low grip tracks didn’t help. Baku in 21 was my favourite track. In 22 there was some weird issues with it when the game released. Barriers would jump out onto track and you would fall through the track. They fixed it but never felt right afterwards. Every lap felt weird as though it moved a few meters as my braking mark would be so inconsistent. Then on 23 even with Full TC I couldn’t seem to find any grip and I’d have to brake ridiculously early if I had any hope of making a corner. Ai would just drive off into the distance
