Hi
A few years ago I made a change from some assists to None, just switched them off. It took a while to get used to, very frustrating at times to be honest. Do you have Manual Gears on? If you switch off TC it helps to also select Manual Gears. You can shortshift and chances of spinning are less. Don’t worry about lap times, AI settings and all that stuff. Pick a track that you like and start doing a whole bunch of laps in time trial. Wipe you best time first, otherwise you keep comparing to it, start fresh. Don’t keep restarting when you invalidate a lap, finish the laps. Slowly but surely, I started getting quicker again. It just needs a lot of practise.
Once you get the feeling, pick a number for AI, I think I lowered mine by about 20 at the time compared to assists on. And start doing some short races (no practise and quali) to see where you are at, keep tweaking the AI until you feel comfortable. Then go back Careers, MyTeam, full seasons etc.
If after a while you don’t think it works, go back to what works for you. As one of the other users said, it’s your game, play it the way YOU want!
enjoy, P
