Not entirely sure how to respond to being labelled petulant. I don’t think it’s petulant to want to know whether or not I should spend a small fortune on a game that I can’t even get full use out of.
I am new to steering wheel setups, so yeah I have entry level gear. I love F1 and I bought my wheel solely for F1. To have it work for a few weeks and then lo and behold, they patch it out, is actually quite frustrating and downright disgusting. I think I have every right to want to know if my wheel works before I give them any more of my money. EA seems to have the time to put together all their marketing and constantly tweeting about pre-ordering - so yeah, why so mysterious about this?
As far as I know it was I who threw a "petulant" here in this thread. Sorry for that, caught you by mistake.
My take on this is 100% the same as yours.
It's untasteful to ramp up the marketing and the pre-ordering campaign while holding back on peripherals compatibility.
As I said, it is one thing to hold up on it if it is still up in the air whether a Cube Controls AMG enthusiast wheel or the La Prima Asetek wheelbase will be compatible with the game. It being "up in the air", as in pending confirmation, is a reasonable justification to sit on it. A provisional list with the extensive number of tried and true wheels and wheelbases known to be supported by the current iteration of the engine?
That's inexcusable.
The game is building on the same platform as all the previous entries in this franchise even after the release of the current gen consoles.
The posts verging on petulant I had in mind were the ones looking for the kind of info we only get after the review embargo ends. It's unreasonable to hit on staff asking for how contracts work in career mode when there's a marketing "deep dive" material scheduled for the following days.
Wanting to know if a Logitech wheel will be compatible on release? That's basic and utterly sensible, and EA should be forthcoming with that sort of info.
Last year we at least managed to wrangle such a list 1 day prior to the official release date. That's not enough; EA can and should do better. A provisional list should be that touchy of a subject - specially when I cannot browse social media without being bombarded with a "GET IT NOW" ad.
