With the proviso it is based off last years results with maybe only a tinge of this years.
I’m also aware some are rated differently for balancing in comparison to the car rating.
I’ll group them into categories for comparison.
Your front-runners;
Verstappen - 95 - justified. He’s the best out there currently.
Norris - 91 - it’s probably on point. I’d have had him at 90 personally.
Leclerc - 91 - probably the nicest rating he’s had. Accurate.
Russell - 90 - Again, probably about right. I’d have had him at 89.
Your nearly-there men;
Sainz - 90 - I’ve also thought they inflated his rating beyond his means. 88 is probably for me.
Piastri - 87 - about right for last year. This year, bump him to 89.
Your grandads;
Hamilton - 89 - kinda fair. Ironic that when he retires. If he’s in the game then he’s a 96 (same as I’d have Schumi).
Alonso - 88 - Yeah sure, why not. He’s not getting any better.
Your midfield maestros;
Gasly - 86 - he does seem the class of the midfield. Potentially a point higher than I’d have gone.
Ocon - 85 - I would say his ability is around this but his last year was a little off it so would have had 83.
Hulkenberg - 84 - I’ve always rated Hulky around this level but maybe declining to 83 now. He’s never going to get that podium though, is he.
Your fringes of the points;
Albon - 83 - I’ve never really been an Albon fan but I have to admit he’s done well this season. Last season he was abit shonky so I’d have dropped a point or two.
Tsunoda - 82 - I’ve always thought he was a little underrated by the game but this is 1 point higher than I’d have gone. Better get used to it as he’s dropping ratings the longer he’s in the red bull.
Your participation trophy kids
Stroll - 78 - He gets a hard time but it’s hard to judge. He’s good enough to be in F1, but I’d say he’s not hungry enough to progress off his own back. I’d have gone 79.
Your kindergarten babies;
Lawson - 80 - looks like New Barbie knows someone on the inside to get that rating. I can only assume it’s due to his Red Bull seat and car balancing. 76… on a good day. I’ve only ever thought he was good, at best, in junior formulae and he’s just not an 80.
Antonelli - 72 - this will get bumped up as I expect it’s based off last season and F2 balancing. I’d have said 77 at the start of the year and maybe 81 now. Although that’s based on junior hype rather than results.
Bearman - 74 - I’ll say it quietly… but I’m not that sold on him. He’s good but I don’t get the hype. 74 is just fine.
Doohan - 73 - I’m blinkered as I’m a massive Jack stan. I’d have gone 75 or 76 as I really rated his last F2 year. I’ve heard people say he’ll get removed in an update but I’m sceptical unless Alpine request it. So I expect him to still be the Alpine driver for the foreseeable but his rating drop to 70/71.
Hadjar - 68 - poor Isack. This will get bumped but I’ve no idea why he’s been shafted like this. He was so close to being both F3 and F2 champion and he gets this honker of a rating. I guess the second year in F2 dropped him a little? 72 at least.
Bortoleto - 74 - Again, I’ll whisper, as it’s hard to say about a double F2 and F3 champion… but I’m not entirely convinced on him. Of the ones that’s done it, he’s significantly the weakest. I think he’s good but he’ll burn out on hype. I’d have gone 73 based off results though.
