flicking will be less effective?

The official blog says about handling: Rapid steering inputs, such as techniques that rely on ‘flicking’, will be less effective on race days, as a more aggressive driving style will result in overheating the tyres and faster wear.

I wonder what this is intended to mean. Is it an admission that flicking is actually faster? Or is it that flicking has a very bad effect on race day? If so, why is it written as "less effective"? Isn’t flicking always slower in F1? There was a lot of talk about drifting being faster in F1 24. As someone who wants realistic handling, this expression bothers me quite a bit.

  • My interpretation is that it has primarily to do with how they model tyre wear.

Previously sudden or sharp inputs would not increase tyre temps/ wear by as much as they might in real life so there was less repercussion for using flicking. Thanks to the changes this should be better represented in game meaning smooth drivers are rewarded and flicking becomes less effective.
