I know they put effort into the sponsor liveries, but I’d rather a nice base livery that is a classic over what they have given us.

It does feel like the very least that could be asked for. Just something.... normal?
Sometimes it feels like they've gone through a checklist of things they need to do and there's only 5 minutes left before the deadline and they're like "oh god, we forgot the liveries! Quick, someone get something off google images we can lay it as the default" and the apprentice, in their desperation to impress, googles 'abstract rainbow art' and finds the wackiest things they can and it's too late for anything else. They're either exceptionally basic or overly cluttered with very few in-between.
I'd like legacy templates. Like you could have the generic template for, say, the Renault '05 car, the Ferraris' from '02, the Toyota's from '08 or the McLaren '98, etc. You're not locked into the colours so you could have a Red and White car in the style of the '01 Jaguar or a Black and Gold in the style of the '09 Brawn.
The two primary reasons i'd want that is that the cars would then naturally look like they belong on a grid... because, well, they actually did. And also there would be adequate sponsor location potential because these cars had places for sponsors to go in real life and you could use the same locations for your sponsors. Rather than trying to shoehorn something into a space you can hardly read because of 75 squiggly-wiggly lines going everywhere.
