Water droplet animation Feature request

100% agree with the perceptions of a large number of players that have observed the distracting and low effort water droplets. The water droplets have absolutely zero phsycis and completely destroy immersion in any camera mode, not just VR.

it would be a massive improvement to code them to be affected by wind, even if this was just transitioning between two different animations... That might look a little janky but certainly better than big droplets that do nothing. A Visor camera would be my next big feature request. Automobilista have one and the immersion is fantastic.

Thanks

    # Feature Request: Enhanced Rain Droplet Physics for F1 Game Series

**To:** EA Sports F1 Development Team
**Subject:** Critical Enhancement Request - Realistic Rain Droplet Physics Implementation

    ---

    ## Executive Summary

We are writing to request a significant enhancement to the rain droplet mechanics in the F1 game series. Currently, the static water droplets on helmet visors and camera views are creating immersion-breaking experiences that detract from what is otherwise an exceptional racing simulation.

    ## Current Issue Analysis

Based on extensive community feedback across multiple platforms (EA Forums, Steam Community, Reddit), players consistently report that the current rain droplet system suffers from a fundamental physics flaw: **water droplets remain static on helmet visors and camera surfaces regardless of vehicle speed or aerodynamic forces**.

    ### Key Problems Identified:

    1. **Visibility Impairment**: Players report losing 1-2 seconds per lap due to obscured vision, particularly when identifying track apexes
    2. **Physics Inconsistency**: Water droplets behave unrealistically, remaining motionless at speeds exceeding 200+ mph
    3. **Competitive Imbalance**: Players face severe disadvantages that AI opponents don't experience
    4. **Immersion Breaking**: The unrealistic behavior immediately pulls players out of the racing experience

    ## Community Impact

Our research reveals widespread discussion across forums with players actively seeking workarounds (such as adjusting "near clip plane" settings) to disable the effect entirely. This indicates the current implementation is so problematic that players prefer to remove it completely rather than experience realistic rain racing.

    ## Proposed Solution: Dynamic Rain Droplet Physics

We respectfully request the implementation of **velocity-responsive rain droplet mechanics** that would:

    ### Technical Implementation:
    - **Aerodynamic Simulation**: Droplets should be affected by air velocity and direction
    - **Speed-Based Clearing**: At racing speeds (100+ mph), droplets should naturally stream away from the visor/camera
    - **Realistic Accumulation**: New droplets form based on rain intensity and current speed
    - **Directional Physics**: Droplets should follow realistic trajectories based on vehicle movement and airflow

    ### Visual Enhancement Benefits:
    - **Improved Immersion**: Realistic droplet behavior that responds to physics
    - **Enhanced Gameplay**: Maintains rain challenge while preserving competitive fairness
    - **Visual Fidelity**: Dynamic droplet movement adds cinematic quality to rain sequences

    ## Business Case for Implementation

    ### Player Satisfaction Benefits:
    - **Eliminates Major Complaint**: Addresses one of the most frequently reported rain-related issues
    - **Increases Replay Value**: Makes rain races enjoyable rather than frustrating
    - **Competitive Balance**: Ensures fair gameplay across all weather conditions

    ### Marketing Advantages:
    - **Industry Leadership**: Positions EA Sports F1 as the most realistic racing simulation
    - **Technical Innovation**: Demonstrates cutting-edge physics implementation
    - **Community Goodwill**: Shows responsiveness to player feedback

    ### Subliminal Impact:
Even players who aren't consciously aware of the current physics inconsistency will experience **significantly improved immersion** when droplets behave realistically. This enhancement would subconsciously elevate the entire racing experience, making rain conditions feel authentic rather than artificial.

    ## Implementation Priority

We understand development resources are valuable, but this enhancement would deliver disproportionate value because:

    1. **High Visibility Impact**: Weather effects are prominently featured in marketing and gameplay
    2. **Broad Player Base**: Affects every player who races in rain conditions
    3. **Technical Showcase**: Demonstrates EA's commitment to realistic physics simulation
    4. **Competitive Advantage**: Distinguishes EA's F1 series from competitors

    ## Community Support

The gaming community has consistently voiced support for this enhancement across multiple platforms. Players are not requesting the removal of rain effects—they want them to work **correctly**. This represents an opportunity to transform a current weakness into a standout feature.

    ## Conclusion

We believe implementing realistic rain droplet physics would be a genuine upgrade that elevates the F1 gaming experience. The current system's limitations are well-documented across community forums, and addressing this issue would demonstrate EA's commitment to both technical excellence and player satisfaction.

This enhancement would not only solve existing problems but would set a new standard for weather physics in racing games. We genuinely believe this feature would improve immersion for every player, whether they consciously notice the improvement or experience it subliminally.

We respectfully request that EA Sports dedicate the necessary development resources to implement this enhancement. The community is eager to experience truly realistic rain racing in future F1 releases.

**Thank you for considering this request. We look forward to seeing EA Sports continue to push the boundaries of racing simulation realism.**

I couldn't have said it better. It's especially important to pay attention to the cockpit view. It differs from others in that we see through the eyes of the driver wearing a helmet, and the helmet is not flat, but rounded. And here, raindrops roll down differently.
