Adjust AI difficulty mid-session

With how difficult and unpredictable the AI level is to set, we need to be able to adjust it later on than just in the workstation

E.g. so we can restart qualifying with a different AI level

It's ridiculous that you can go into a session with the AI randomly 2 seconds faster than they were the race before and that's then your race weekend ruined

  • Just compare your times in FP 1-3 ?? Use softs , less fuel and check where you are. If you are still last then adjust AI,if you beat your team mate then you should be fine. No issue here. If you manage race strategy program you are fine, close to the times adjust AI. That is why you have fp 1-3

@svensen86 The problem that I've ran into is that during practice and qualifying my times are competitive and slot me in right where I would expect them to be.

Then I start the race and the AI take off and I'm suddenly in last and 10 seconds behind and no option to restart the race and adjust AI.

If the AI was consistent across Free Practice, Quali, and Race I would agree with you, but in my experience, often they're not.

In F12020 you could open up the settings during any load screen and update the AI level if needed.

True, but this experience is tough when you are in all sessions where you want to be and not in the race. I never had this and since 1.06 i drive costantly on AI 80.

Either i end up close to where i started or gain some positions. Weird Situation in your career then. Maybe someone else has some Tipps for you as this would be new to me.

It's a known bug that Codemasters claim their team are "Working to resolve". As with most things like this, it seems that the game has a list of possible outcomes (AI abilities, track conditions, car conditions, and sheer random chance for things like weather and breakdowns) that, when put together in a certain order, cause an issue like the one OP has, and which I also have across two separate career saves.

This isn't a good solution though

Conditions can be different in practice, sometimes you'll only have 1 (sprints), ers and tyres the ai use can be different etc

Not to mention the fact that the ai aren't reliable between sessions

  • Just used F1 laps to get AI difficulty from time trial laps.

Gave me level 92.  Came 6th with Mercedes on level 77 in career mode.  That was after qualifying 12th and only getting up the pack with help from a safety car and pit stop.
