The main problem with the AI is that it doesn't adapt to their surroundings and most of the time they just drive in the race line. They will follow the race line and do not dare set a wheel in their race line while going wheel to wheel or even in front of them.
This leaves an absolute sour taste for gameplay and immersion. But people will keep saying that it's always the player's fault and that this AI is great and all. I mean, it might be the best AI in the racing games department. Doesn't make it a great AI in general. Not in terms of the F1 paramenters of racing.
Just a quick vid from the other night. One of the many cases where I leave more than enough space but still get blocked to the point my wheel gets stuck and I can't even move away anymore. The result is always the same: You spin, they keep going like it's nothing.
Sorry 'bout the phone quality.
There's way more drastic examples as being hit from behind during the breaking zone etc, where it's completely out of the player's control.
Your trajectory literally cross into the Williams's path even if he didn't turn in (which the AI actually didn't), once the first contact is made both of you are out of shape and further contact is ensured as you tried to force your way through.
I'm not trying to deny your experience or anything like that, it's just that for me, the AI are still too nice in most cases compare to the humans I've raced.
