@VemundVemund wrote:@EA_rephii Here is another exapmle, recorded on equal preformance cars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adZi7k1RzkE
I use up about 40% of my ERS the entire straight while the car in front only uses about 15% of ERS.
90 AI and using the standard increased top speed setup.
I don't know mate, Perez has the DRS as well, so I don't think it is fair to expect you to overtake him easily. You are still cathing him slowly as you use more ERS, but I don't think you should be able to overtake. It is still equal performance cars.
Also, if you look Alonso behind you, he is dropping back as he doesn't have DRS. Looks realistic and not overpowered AI to me.
@gizt7 From the testing I did, the isssue seems to be around myteam mode and the myteam car, we did some testing in a discord group where I'm part of and the results where pretty clear:
-In GP mode and career mode, the AI seems fine and balanced, and we never had an issue not explained by either bad setup, user issue or too agressive TC
-However, we had no explanation for slow speed in myteam, and players complaining about it in myteam had no issue with speed in GP and career mode
-Also, fast players who only played gp and career and never had a straight line speed issue, noticed the issue when they tried a Myteam session, all 3 types of start, with the fastest possible engine and upgrades for a myteam start, with a 1 second average pace deficit.
-Myself I noticed the issue, and also noticed that with a midfield Myteam car, I was slower than in a Career Mode Alpha Tauri by about a second a lap and was consistently last or near last in the speed trap with a low wing setup (12 front, 17 rear) and a ferrari engine.
We don't know if something is up with career and gp mode, but we do know that something is up with the myteam car in Myteam mode. My pet Theory is that the Factory engine upgrade may in reality not apply any speed upgrade to the player myteam car, but does it to the team mate and the ai.

I released this In the Champions edition early access, and it used to be an issue in Gp mode, but they have now fixed it in GP mode, but you are correct as in My team they still have not fixed the issue

I can only go by last year. Where during practice sessions my my team car would reach top end speeds in excess off 200mph. But come qualifying and race the best. Could hope for would be 195mph with drs. I’m still messing around with my team. But the car is heavy fat draggy dog. Starting as newcomer using redbull power and selecting all aero in press interview including picking front downforce has it had no negative drag effect has got my top end speed with drs during race up to 200mph.

In my team even with a fully maxed car the AI is still faster on straights but in other modes the ai is fine again
- 4 years ago@nkzsry9q2v3n Thanks for your input. Great to see someone putting good effort analysing this and doing proper testing. I'm not saying there couldn't be an issue, but so far I have not noticed anything.
When the topic like this gets lots of focus, people start thinking everything is overpowered AI. So far in shared videos (thanks all for taking the effort), I at least have not seen anything major. Many times reasons are controllers not working or configured properly, expecting to be able to overtake cars in front, when both have DRS, player mistakes or bad exits, difference in setups, etc. It is just easier to blame the game than taking the time to practise and improve your own driving.
Again, not saying there can't be an issue. I remember from previous games, when R&D was not correctly applied to your team mate in MyTeam. Something similar could be the case in here as you mentioned. I have not noticed the problem in my playing, and I'm currently 7 races down in MyTeam. I'm able to match my team mate and usually find similar pace with AI, when looking at top speeds. I struggle on straights with some of the cars, but I have clearly the worst engine and car at the moment.
I'm sure devs will take a look at this and see, if anything should be adjusted. It is just good to remember passing in F1 is not easy, especially if both cars have DRS. - 4 years ago
Agree with @gizt7 , the only clear cut example I've seen is Jarno's video at Miami where it was pretty obvious there was a problem.
We are still testing and trying to understand where the issue is, could you maybe tell me what engine manufacturer you use for myteam and your difficulty setting+assists ? We are trying every possible thing to understand what the issue is. Also have you tried playing in career and gp mode ? If yes do you have similar results as in myteam ? If no, could you try and tell us if it's different/if you are faster in gp mode or career mode ? Thanks in advance ! - 4 years ago

I play at 98 AI without any assists. I have Renault engine and in R&D, I have the worst engine, even after couple of upgrades.
I have tried GP right after launch and did not find anything weird. However that was a quick testing and of course not familiar with the new handling at all. Can give it a new try at some point. - Hansenhaus4 years agoNew Veteran
After 36 hours playing only GP mode as Sergio Perez, AI at 95 and no assists I have become very competitive and not struggling nearly as much as I did in the first 15-20 hours of game play. What I did to improve was practice a track in TT mode. I would pick Jarno Opmeer's setup and set him as my rival. I'm always at least 1.5 seconds slower but I got a lot better at driving and throttle application through a 30-45 minute TT session. Following his telemetry shows were my weakest points are. Before using Jarno's setups I would go with TRL setups which I found understeer too much for my style.
Jarno's setups really suit my driving style and feel very stable on corner entries and exits. My corners exits made the most improvement and I was able to make use of the DRS and ERS better on straights. If you watch the AI they constantly hit the overtake button for very short periods on corners exits and mid way through straights. Applying this same technique also helps stick with them on straights. So far I have only done Bahrain and Austria but I am winning medium distance races at 95AI. Usually starting from 6 to 4th place.
One thing that was really weird was in Austria I was having a strange thing happen in 6th gear during a race. Midway through the gear the revs would drop a bit and slowly climb back up. I was losing power briefly but only in 6th gear. I exited the race and started over with a different setup and the problem was gone.

@Hansenhaus Im pretty sure the issue for Gp mode was resolved on release as I made this post on the champions edition pre-release, but the issue still remains for My team As I tested GP mode today and it was fixed

I play two-player career and there the AI also have ridiculous traction out of corners when they are driving out to the DRS zones, this makes them extremely difficult to overtake in the normal overtaking spots, I often find myself overtaking in corners, while I can't overtake on the long straits.

Started playing a co-op career with a friend and went to Alpine. Can say that with 101 AI in Bahrain the only moment where I struggled was when I tried to overtake Bottas in the main straight with DRS. Only with ERS I could see the difference in overspeed I had over him, but without it it was almost the same speed.
The thing here is the setup. I had 27-24 wings, but at the moment I don't know the setup the AI have. I know that in the last games they've been using the same setup every race. So either they are running a really low downforce setup every race or they have actually some kind of bug.
In MyTeam I still think the problem is in our car, because when I compare my speed with my teammate in a high downforce track I lose a little bit to him on a straight but in a low DF track that does not happen at all. However with the other teams the struggle is in every single track and for me it seems that it's the amount of drag that was coded to the car that makes it feel really slow on a straight.
- ScarDuck144 years agoLegend
@TomasSlb24 Every race now gives you the best default setup for that track. Whatever setup that maybe is also what setup the ai are using. For instance Bahrain is setup 4 increased speed
- TomasSlb244 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@ScarDuck14 Indeed I've noticed that they give us the best default setup. I actually think that may be the setup the AI are using but would really need to compare in some more tracks.
- ScarDuck144 years agoLegend
@TomasSlb24 @It is the setup the ai are using
- Nylink4 years agoSeasoned Veteran
Did we make comparisons in grand prix mode to see the difference?
I don't expect to match the AI when I'm driving a backmarker car in myteam mode, it wouldn't make sense. I am typically faster than my teammate in a straight line though.
I don't really think it's 'fixed' in grand prix mode. I definitely have trouble matching or overtaking the AI with even DRS in that mode too. It might be that it's a larger problem in my team as I finished my first race pretty much dead last there.
Edit: Saying that I improved from about top 5 at Miami to top spot by a little over a hair by snagging the 2nd best time trial setup for that track. That this is fast enough to barely win at 85% difficulty for a controller user like me says it all IMO.
- ScarDuck144 years agoLegend
Well this says it all.. kinda😁 myteam newcomer. Racing Imola. My car is 2mph slower on the straight with DRS open. And was curious to see what my team mates top end was he’s 5mph faster than me. Despite the fact we now apparently know what setups the ai are running and I on purposely reduced both wings. As it’s imola max tyre pressures. Fuel load was 0.50ish.
I’m perplexed and now wishing I didn’t delete 2021 off my ps5🙄
- 4 years ago
@ScarDuck14 It gets worse because as your Car improves, your teammate gets an even more ridiculous top speed compared to you, sometimes being up to10-20 mph faster than you on a straight line

@LittleAmigoBrit @Over on the proper forum. We had the mandatory wish list for next game thread
Some people posted huge lists off things they wanted in 22.
All I asked for was for myteam to be better balanced. Feels like devs took my idea and added lots off saliva to it and then slapped me in the face with it. How dare I ask for something sensible
- 4 years ago
I would say this seems to be a myteam issue, I've not encountered this in a career or gp modes. I actually thought straight line speed from ai was realistic.
- ScarDuck144 years agoLegend
@Dan78loki Maybe if they asked forum members who they know put time into myteam over the last 2 years esp those with 1300 hours give or take. To help do the beta for my team. All for the price off free game and unlimited pitcoin. The devs may have had a better idea off what and where issues in myteam were months ago.
Im no coder but FIFA has the same issue: same base program from way back when. Year on year parts off code are cut out and replaced with new code, coded by a different coder. Which would be fine. Until you then try and add a completely different physics model to a base program that is now a patchwork quilt and not the 20tog quilt wrapped in 2000 thread Egyptian cotton cover for it needs to be to best support such a big change
just an assumption on my part.
- goodhand124 years agoSeasoned Scout
@Dan78loki I feel this also in the regular career mode. I like the fact that ers + drs + slipstream is not overpowered anymore but the AI speed on the straight is still a lot, that combined with insane traction makes things very hard.
I would be ok with decreasing my AI level, I already did it by 10 points or so compared to 2021 and tried to lower that by 5 more points but it only affects the braking point and cornering, not traction. So less fun unfortunately! This needs to be fixed
- 4 years ago
@goodhand12Agree I find I'm struggling to keep the traction off corners to the ai.. my example would be the 1-2 turn at Bahrain. I barely keep traction with ai there and I certainly can't do it constantly over a race period
- ScarDuck144 years agoLegend
It’s just the slow corners that are killing me. Doesn’t want ai car is infront off me coming out off the last chicane at imola. They gain something stupid like half a second:
But then I get great exit speed onto the main straight compared to the ai infront where it’s blatantly clear a blind person could see how much faster I am. But as soon as I’m right up it’s gear box ers and drs all go. The ai just manages to maintain enough speed to stay just that bit infront I can’t even attempt a deep dive
- 4 years ago@ScarDuck14 Yead anything below 3rd gear is a struggle on the pad.
