I'm getting it in F2 in Career Mode as well. While there obviously aren't upgrades to unbalance the car, the AI is still rocketing away from turn 3 at Bahrain. By the time it gets to turn 4, it's gained nearly a second. It feels like there's no grip with my car and/or too much torque in the lower gears. If I try to keep up I just spin out. I'm playing with a controller.
With the F1 cars it's the same, but with the addition that 8th gear is either too long or there isn't enough torque.
Edit: I mean, regarding F2, I could just be rubbish... but they were pretty damn quick out of that corner, never had that with F2 in previous games...

There is absolutely no doubt at all that the AI are insanely fast when accelerating out of slower corners in career mode. I’ve not tried it in my team as I don’t usually bother with that feature of the game.
In normal Grand Prix mode it all seems to be fine and the races there are more realistic and enjoyable. I can match the acceleration fairly well in Grand Prix mode.
As soon as I try career mode I’m loosing at least 1 second a lap on the straights, if not more. It’s ruining the experience big time and I truly hope this can be resolved as soon as possible!
In addition this is occurring no matter what wing levels I try.

Ok, never mind - turned down the difficulty by 10 and F2 is terrific now.
I know that difficulty essentially controls cars speed in and out of the corners, probably already answered (too many pages to read) but I'm assuming you guys having tried turning the difficulty down by 10 just to see how things are?
But I do know that 8th gear just feels way too "bogged down" as if it's too long...

I'm playing on PS5 using a controller with auto gears and medium TC. I've noticed that changing the "Tyre Temperature" settings to "surface only" makes a massive difference to the amount of traction and subsequently straight line speed in both driver career and grand prix mode. With this setting enabled I am now able to overtake cars at the end of long straights that start with heavy traction zones (such as after the hairpin in Canada and into turn 4 in Austria). I do still need to play with the differential in the race though to help with traction and not spinning out.
I would be interested to know whether this helps/works for other players, including those using wheels. Might be a possible work around until some more patches are applied.

@Burbz7 think your onto something. Havnt done any actual testing. But did notice similar

@Burbz7 while I don't have trouble in career or gp mode, I did see that this year, tyres seems to work in a higher and narrower temperature band (between 95 and 100 degrees) it is possible that those who don't work them enough and never reach those temperatures could have more trouble.
