Did you do the testing in qualifying session, and in real time?
AI are known to just simulate lap times if (at any point of their hot lap) you use fast forward, skip to flying lap, skip to garage, or you crosses the finish line to end the session but with AI still running behind you on their final hot lap.
The problem is, simulated lap times are almost always faster than what the AI could actually do physically. So if you want a realistic representation of how they actually perform, you'll have to run them in real time and avoid using any of the features mentioned above during the duration of their hot laps. Fast forward just one section of the lap could have already significantly affect their actual lap times.
Another thing, AI are stronger in Career & MyTeam than in Grand Prix mode because of the hidden stat boosts from their own team's facilities. The further you're into the career, the stronger they will be, and the boost effect is actually really significant.
For doing testing in race session, I suggest everyone to run with fresh PU and only uses whatever default car setup that the game preset for you for every track.

On that note, i think with my discord group we can safely say that the issue is on engine upgrade not applying to our car.
We did a test, where we made a myteam with a renault engine and one with a ferrari engine, other than that, same setup, same car upgrades, same teammate, 100Ai, no assist, short qualy
With renault I did a 1:29:85 in barhain, 330 kph in speed trap
With Ferrari i did a 1:29:65 in Barhain, with 333kph in speed trap
I think the difference can be explained with me getting a better lap since I did ferrari after, and also engine caracteristic
Now for the real deal
Huklenberg did a 1:30:1 with renault
And a 1:28:4 with ferrari
Something is definitely up with engine upgrades, they do not apply to the player car. When I have the time, i'll redo a test to see if it wasn't a fluke.
Edit: I redid a test with renault which resulted in a 1:29:35 from Hulkenberg, which is more in expected results, but still confirms the engine problem suspicionThanks for clarifying. I may have missed the context but it was the way you said 'we' that confused me 🙂,

@Dan78loki Right now if using medium TC I suggest turning it off or trying Renault in myteam haven’t used it myself yet. But it’s low performance may help manage accelerating.
Currently the amount off torque being sent to the rears is in effect overloading Medium TC. It’s only able reduce limited amount off engine power compared to full tc that cuts it all.
So currently it holding some torque which is slowing the car but then players only need add a tiny bit more throttle. Which it to much for medium tc. And all off a sudden you get higher amount off peak torque which is the reason medium tc users are experiencing instant spin surprise.
The torque update will help limit the amount off power medium tc has to deal with giving you more time to accelerate up the gears before your engine delivers peak torque

@Ultrasonic_77 I thought for a minute CM had brought in a specialist team to quickly find and fix issues so players wouldn’t have to wait days upon days for a solution
Weird I must have fell asleep and a beautiful dream that CM were being pro active and hiring people that actually understand the game

@Dan78loki I know little about coding and game physics and very little about car mechanics. But for 16 years and up until recently driving high performance cars was my living. But sadly at times above all was knowing my limits and the cars limits and never ever exceeding them. As doing either or both could very possibly result in me having someone’s death on my conscience.
understanding the difference between high bhp cars like big turbo old school Subarus and Evo delivered their power and why they are faster on public roads compared to high torque v8 German muscle.
And my instructor one my first physical lesson explained it like this. Bhp pulls and torque pushes. Being pulled along is easier to manage accelerating and decelerating on tight public roads. Which is why evo and Subaru would often outperform exotic super cars.
Because cars with high torque push and take little effort initially but once the engine is revving and the torque is freely flowing and the tyres are putting all off it down. Youve seen a long long way up the road some old boy driving at oldboy speed but torque doesn’t like being held back once it’s pushing and scrubbing speed is harder as engine braking is almost non existentt. However go to a track like brands and big torque dominates and all the big turbo street fighters are well and truly beaten
Sorry for those who don’t know me I suffer from insomnia and after a few days with out sleep my posts end up dragging on and on as I can’t focus on just one thing
@Apophis-STR Yup, did the test in qualy session though I did skip outlap because I wanted consistent tyre heat, I'll do the test again when I have time without skipping and come back to you
Also, the AI is indeed faster in career and myteam, but from my testing, feeling, and from everyone from my discord, no one has issues with career, only myteam- @ScarDuck14 Mate again I appreciate your Insight. I've done a lot of track days and even a rally one here and there. I also have owned a few quick cars but I'm getting older 44yrs. And I'm more careful now ha. Yes my AMG a35 isn't the quickest but I do love it so and 4wd. So I do get quick cars. But talk away I'm glad of your posts

Like I said on another post, I think with my discord group we can safely say that the issue is on at least engine upgrades, maybe more not applying to our car.
We did a test, where we made a myteam with a renault engine and one with a ferrari engine, other than that, same setup, same car upgrades, same teammate, 100Ai, no assist, short qualyIn qualy session:
With renault I did a 1:29:75 in barhain, 330 kph in speed trap
With Ferrari i did a 1:29:65 in Barhain, with 333kph in speed trap
I think the difference can be explained with me getting a better lap since I did ferrari after, and also engine caracteristic
Now for the real deal
Huklenberg did a 1:29:35 with renault
And a 1:28:4 with ferrariNearly one second faster, and this supposed performance increased is not present for the player
Something is definitely up with engine upgrades and maybe also other upgrades, they do not apply to the player car. And while our testing focused on myteam where the problem is the most obvious, it is possible that this issue in present in some way in other game modes.- yrek1503 years agoRising Scout
I had the same issue, on the F2 career Mode. AI were much faster than me on the straights until I started to use 3 - 13 wings setup. When I used this setup I started to match their straight line speed, but I started to loose at the corners... So I had to reduce AI level by about 5-7%. Then I became competitive.
