Awaiting a patch for VR
OK - So I've been racing with F1 in 2018, 2020 and now with 2022 and was really looking forward to using my Oculus 2 with the introduction of VR in F1 22 as 2020 was possibly (IMHO) the most bug free...
The problem with all other sims that have F1 cars in them is that they will never achieve the experience that the F1 games can give you if you are a single player user. There's no career mode and the context is not made to suit a proper F1 grand prix. That's the fault of any sim that has different cars to choose, nothing is specific and everything is a jack of all trades. ACC is the only other sim that has dedicated content and for this it is so good at what it does.
For all the shortcomings of the F1 games - and there are many - nothing sadly comes close to the experience these games can give you if you are a F1 enthusiast. You can surely find something to like in iRacing concerning F1 cars but if you are interested in replicating the feeling of a championship then you will never find it there. The handling is surely better - albeit the FFB not so much and there are many issues with the physics model in iRacing too - but that's just a part of what makes a driving game enjoyable to play.
Furthermore that video is sponsored by iRacing, so those "opinions" are as valid as when drivers in Thrustmaster sponsored videos say that Thrustmaster wheels are the best of the best. No they are not, and sponsored videos are sponsored for a reason. You are paid to market a product, hence you will obviously emphasize and exaggerate the positives to the extreme while hushing and pushing aside any negative as a non factor.
@Amioramplus on consoles there is no real alternative at all.
(I play on PS5.)
