Cannot link EA account
Product: F1 22
Platform:PlayStation 5
Summarize your bug Unable to link account. EA support forwards me to the bug page as they could not help....
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Multiplayer
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I believe this happens to "old" players, who already had a CodeMasters and an EA account when EA did a merge in 2021. When starting a game, it is not possible to link an EA account to the PSN account.
What happens when the bug occurs? Not able to playing online at all...
What do you expect to see? Successful login.
I can't log in to online services. The game helpfully suggested that my login credentials had expired and that I should reset my password. Happily did that. Still can't log in because apparently my login credentials have expired and my password needs resetting. When I looked into my EA account it turns out that my PSN ID is not linked to the email address I was expecting it to so I have no idea what credentials the game is looking for, which is also unhelpful.
All I want is the option to input my full login credentials again so I can sort all of this out rather than blindly guess what it is the game is looking for.
Background story
F1 2020 on PS5 is working just fine.
Just bought F1 2022, using the exact same PS5 and PSN - and guess what: I cannot sign in. Interesting enough, I am able to sign in to this forum using my 10+ years old EA account....
I have a feeling I know what the problem is... In 2021 EA bought Codemasters. Up until then, we all signed in to the F1 games using the CodeMasters sign in portal. You can check it out, try to code to Code Master website and sign in, and here you will see your PSN is correctly linked to Code Master.
Now, in 2021, EA sent out this email:
"
CODEMASTERS JOINS EA: YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We're writing to you to let you know that Codemasters was recently acquired by Electronic Arts, and is now part of the EA family of companies. This means that any communications related to your Codemasters Account in the future will be sent to you on behalf of Electronic Arts, Inc., which has become the new data controller of your personal data.
You can rest assured that, as data controller, Electronic Arts, Inc. will use your personal data for purposes that are consistent with how it was used by Codemasters, and protect it at all times in accordance with EA's Privacy and Cookie Policy.
You can find out more about how to exercise your data protection rights at any time by visiting this page.
"
So maybe a fault during the EA / CodeMasters merge has happend, if a user both had an EA and a CodeMasters account? So far I have not been able to find a solution, and I cannot play F1 2022 online.
Please also refer to this forum post, where A LOT of users are having the same issue.

Wuhuu, I finally have some great news!!
EA Support can now delete the link between an EA account and a PSN account !!
Short summary of issue:
Apparently, for more than 12 years ago, I once used an EA account with an old email. Back then there was established a link to my current PSN account. Since then I changed my mail, and eventually, my old EA account was deleted by EA due to inactivity.
In 2011 I'm creating a new EA account, which I'm still using. This means my current EA and PSN accounts are more than 10 years old, and I still have access to these...
The f1 2022 game is using my old EA account. It was using an email, where the email provider no longer exists, so there is absolutely no way I can get access to this email. Also remember, that EA has deleted this account them self.
According to EA there is now no way of unlinking my old EA account with my PSN account if I no longer have access to the (deleted!) EA account or the email associated with it.
Solution
I reached out to support (again), but this time, they were able to delete the link!! Yes, that is right: Just provide the email to the old account and they can now delete the link to the PSN account. This means you can now establish a new link with your current EA account.
(only one downside; you still need to know which email you were using with the old EA account)
