Car model / ranking updates
Lets say I start a driver career with Williams on release date. I would want any visual updates if there are any during a season. But i dont want any ranking updates,as I want the rankings to change ...

Game assets once updated would replace the older ones everywhere. There would be no "physical" old spec car asset for the game to even load up, unless they were made as alternative liveries and the like.
Performance updates have the option to be applied to current save games or disregarded.
Once the performance update hits though, I don't think you'd be able to start a *new* career with the old ratings.

Ah awesome, so we will get visual updates at all times and performance updates can be ignored if wanted.
