Just sat through England's performance against the USA whilst on holiday in a part of the world where the game didn't start until midnight so I need to vent at something!
TV pod isn't cheating but, and I have been banging on about this since 1892.....or whenever it was introduced....it should 100% be classed as an aide. The whole idea of TV pod is to make the game easier for newcomers who have yet to build up the skill to drive properly - just like any other aide. The whole idea of using TV pod is ludicrous. If you can't drive using Cockpit then go and play Mario Cart!
OK....rant over. It is 2:45 am here and I am off to bed. In the morning I will awake feeling refreshed and will return to being my usual happy, joyous self. 😇
I'd love to see cockpit view being enforced for eSports.
I use cockpit view as it's a more immersive and enjoyable experience but I could definitely be quicker without.
Thankfully no late night required for me to see the football!

Totally agree. It would be nice if someone from eSprts explained exactly why TV pod is allowed and why Cockpit isn't mandatory.

I actually thing you guys are going about it the wrong way; I personally wish the FIA would force the teams to change the seating arrangements of the drivers so their heads and bodies are mounted where the T-pods are.
That or a periscope system so that they view is of the T-pod.
I think I'll email Pat Symonds with my ideas.

Preliminary tests have been carried out but it never quite seems to make it to the next set of regulations...

LOL 🙂
Maybe another option is to make them drive in the European Truck Racing Championship if they are so bothered about being able to get a good view of the apex!

I agree with him. Although he still uses Look Back option while I stick to side mirrors only 😉 (I don't use that Rear Mirror travesty 😉 )
And for mirrors to be visible, you need to push back horizontally and therefore the front visibility is bit worse. So you also need to judge the distance to a car in front more carefully.
But it's much more fun 😉

I’ll say it again. I’d prefer to use cockpit for the same reasons the limited man states. You do feel a lot more connected. However I’m a gamer not a sim racer. It’s easier to use Tv pod. I will advocate for more immersion for others. But for me there’s no point. Hard to get all immersive when I use a little tiny stick to control my car😀 - Ultrasonic_773 years agoHero

On the second point, the game is also easier if you turn the AI level down. Like @P4st3l1ak says, for me this is a choice about enjoyment rather than being some sort of hardcore sim-racer.
Rightly or wrongly, I largely rely on proximity arrows to judge where surrounding cars are. Look-back and rear-view mirror are just totally artificial, and a POV with permanent good view of the mirrors detracts from the real cockpit experience. With look to apex on max it's possible to have a camera setup which means some of the mirrors are visible when turning in, which is how I've had it most recently.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@Ultrasonic_77 On your first point. Your apology is accepted but don’t do it again 😀😝
On your second… I should have been clearer… Easier to see not easier against Ai. I genuinely feel some claustrophobic effects from cockpit view. Which is I suppose a compliment to cockpit view. - Ultrasonic_773 years agoHero

I totally get it's not for everyone but just being clear the choice for many is about enjoying the game more, rather than some other agenda.
