Hey everyone,
Thank you for the reports on this.
Can you share some additional details that I can pass along?
Btw, this thread was created 2 weeks ago (!) by Louis Welch, if you don't know who that is he does give a bit of info in the bug report, if that doesn't mean anything to you either, here's a video of him 1v1ing the reigning F1 esports world champion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep0b36zSYlY
Bottom line, please don't just dismiss this and leave us hanging, playing on a controller is everything but good rn ☹️
Just to add my opinion here, this change of direction / feeling of input delay is a very separate issue to the lack of FFB in other input devices.
As you can see in the video by @snowirbix there is a very clear 'return to center' delay when changing from left to right and vice versa giving a very unresponsive feeling that is exacerbated with higher speed.
It's worth mentioning that this issue exists on keyboard as well as controllers from my experience (I have an Xbox Series X and Dualsense controller to test).
This return to center handling style is also in F1 2021 but it is not nearly as pronounced as it is in F1 22 so it doesn't feel half a bad to drive, you can test this yourself by doing what is shown in @snowirbix video.
The only way to eliminate this delay in direction change is to use a wheel and that is not fair to the vast majority of players who play this game with a controller.
Just to be clear, in my opinion, I don't think the steering in this game needs to be more sensitive when using a controller, it just needs to be smooth and consistent.
If I'm navigating through a chicane and I go from full left to full right I expect a smooth transition from left to right, what is happening now is more like left > straight > right.
A consistent rotation of the wheel for those direction inputs and not a short period of going straight in the middle would make this game feel so much better.
That's just my personal experience with this issue, I really hope this gets changed.
This centre delay has been in all of the recent F1 games I have played, however I did immediately notice that it felt a lot more pronounced in this years game. I was going to make a post myself, but I thought maybe it was just in my head haha.
I think the settings codies are using are probably the same as in previous games, but because the cars are heavier this year it feels a lot more unresponsive and delayed when switching directions. Of course that’s just my initial thought process and I could be wrong and the delay is actually longer.
