COTA in Cockpit View

Anyone else struggling with COTA in cockpit view or just me? I've been using cockpit view for about 6 months now but this weekend is the first time I've tried COTA, and I'm feeling the added challenge more acutely here than at any other track. I guess it's mostly down to the elevation changes but not exclusively. Turn 1 I'm really struggling to take consistently but it's not just there. Of course my general lack of talent is a major factor too!

Here's some helmet cam footage from last year for context:

  • @Ultrasonic_77 I’m rubbish at seeing and nailing my turn in point at COTA using centered offset pod(higher position than normal pod) But I do have weaker vision in one eye. So I do struggle with depth perception. Especially when I Havnt had sleep for a few days.

Even so I imagine it wouldn’t make any difference taking turn 1,with your eyes closed in cockpit view. Have you tried increasing height and angling down the camera:

  • @Ultrasonic_77 I think the bollard is missing from the T1 apex and in cockpit cam I simply can't make the turn - even with look to apex at maximum.

I thought the same thing but noticed there wasn't a bollard at the actual race. I've been racing this track for a week. Working my way up to 100AI where I am struggling to win now. Turn one is where I lose the most time because of my inconsistent braking and timing. It is really tricky. If I am following a car it is easy. On my own it is hit or miss.

Widened my view by a click and found it easier to hit apexes. Won two medium GPs at 100AI tonight. On a side note On Throttle DIFF set to 75 has been proving to be the most stable and predictable with traction on corner exits. 100 DIFF gets me the best starts.

A bollard on the apex of turn one would definitely help but if not there in real life it shouldn't really be there, plus I doubt it would still be there after a single lap online anyway!

I gradually got better with practice but still a VERY long way off being able to compete with 100 AI. That's impressive @Hansenhaus .

  • So many corners that you don't see until after you start turning in.  I play in cockpit view and I've long called COTA the 'Circuit of the Missed Apex'.

@SC31416 Imagine being behind wheel off a real F1 car on track with other cars all fighting for the same bit off track

Skill off F1 drivers is godlike
