the impact is very little. Should be more I think, but needs a further big improvement that has been on my list for quite some time.

Yes, each aero part of the car have their own efficiency. And is not a simple linear model as it was before. Rear wing is the least efficient, As you increase the rear wing, you are decreasing the efficiency, so drag to lift ratio gets bigger. Front wing has actually a sweet spot that isn't wing 0 nor is 50. And this was possible by not making it just a simple linear model.

Now if you're still listening, have tons of free time on your hands and is looking for the next big project to work on in these games, can we pleeease get Inside/Middle/Outside (IMO) temperature readings for tyre surface and make camber all the more important to tyre wear and cornering? 😥

Right, after retesting, I was indeed wrong about the dirty air and slipstream being halved, I did my original testing all the way back in 2020, and must have used a bad methodology then. Sorry about that.

I'm glad to hear Overtake might be looked at, it would be a good start toward improving the ers a bit, as that alone would at least let modders play with ers a bit more.

Different aero balance for the cars is very good to hear, the game is definitely moving in a direction I'm a fan of, I might disagree with a few choices, but it all sounds very good so far.

@DavidG53 If you still have time, is there any particular reason the gear ratios don't match very closely to the real cars? As an example this is the gear ratios for all cars in-game.

Whereas this is what Ferrari were actually using.

Or Alpine with a very unique gear setup.

It doesn't really impact anything aside from the theoretical top speed, but it does change the sound of the cars a bit, especially Alpine.

Does it just not matter enough to spend time on?

Another small detail that's been bothering me is Mexico. Previously I believe it was in the \"medium\" scaling group, but since air density isn't really simulated it was simply like any other circuit. This could have been mitigated by adding it to \"very low\", but now that downforce isn't scaled like that anymore, are there any plans for how to handle Mexico?

Edit: Sorry, it was in fact in \"low\", but that's still not quite enough to compensate for lack of air density.

Another question being a major point of realism for me: Is there anything planned for either this game (doubt it) or future titles for differences in race pace and qualifying pace? I know there is no good solution to this without going really in depth on the simulation and grinding data etc. so it wont come but there are \"cheeky\" ways to achieve the same general result. It just bothers me from seeing Mercedes actually being somewhat close in qualifying to the front at times but in the races their pace is currently about a whole second worse than Ferrari/RB, which obviously is too much for the game (wouldnt be fun) but a certain degree of that would help. But so would mechanical grip values specified for each team but thats going way too far now haha

It would probably need a huge more amount of data to process on tyre model and very complicated for the AI to cope (we already struggle when lateral force decreases after x load for example, something we did improve this year tho)

I did look into it. we had plans to have humidity and elevation influence the air density, but that would be an enormous amount of data needed for the AI. Basically it would be different aerodynamics level on many tracks, and would be very dynamic with humidity, and since we try to have the ai as much as possible on the same model as the player, that is very difficult to achieve.

As in there being a sweet spot for each track (and driving style), given how both too much and too little camber can increase tyre temperature and degradation? Or is tyre wear just generally bound by suspension stiffness plus tyre pressures?

It does, but is an area that needs improvements. Tyre pressure is the most effective and dynamic atm
