Tip for pad users. Turn off adaptive triggers gives you less range using that. Should be able to moderate throttle better.
End of the day these games are best on wheel, we all know that. I've done my time with pc sim racing and wheels so I'm just gonna have to put up with med=low trc.
Think gonna call it a day with pad and this topic lads, I'm not sure cm will tinker this much more for pad users at the detriment for the wheel users... And rightly so
May take a loss and trade it in before trade ins hit rock bottom with this title.
EA Staff (Retired)First Feedback after testing the revised handling for a couple of laps with patch 1.06:
- The reworked Force Feedback feels great! Over-/Understeer is much easier to feel now and I feel like I have much more control over the car. Didn't know what I was missing until this patch came out.
- Shortshifting is less effective. Personally I like this a lot, might be different for some people
- Much less wheelspin, especially in lower gears. Opens up entirely new driving perspectives by unducing rotation with throttle in 2nd gear which was not possible before
David I guess this was your work, but I'm not sure about the FFB. Anyways, well done mate I'm happy with the patch!
I might find some points that I don't like in the next couple hours of game time, but my first impression is really good! If I find some more things to comment on I will share my thoughts.

Yes I feel easier traction but time is not there, tomorrow I will try something different but also WR looks not improved so far.
On the other hand AI looks so much faster at least with simulated Quals lap times (Jeddah almost 1 second faster than before), which isn’t a problem itself but needs a check by the folk imho

With all the changes to handling model why is 50% brake balance still the best setting on every track
EA Staff (Retired)EA Staff (Retired)EA Staff (Retired)@Blackbird90 As others have answered already, especially a track like France, is very front limited. This is the reason why Ferrari and Leclerc went for an oversteery setup, but ultimately proved to be too much even for Charles.
You would need to soften the front and stiffen the rear, but I do not recommend you do that. If you want, and you still have some margin, temp wise, raise the front tyre pressure and lower the rear.

@DavidG53Good advice here on trying the default wheel setting again. My G920 settings were all whacky because of 1.05. Going to 1.06 improved the FFB but still felt weird. I went back to the default G920 and just adjusted the throttle linearity to suit my driving style and I could feel the difference right away. Especially with the understeer and oversteer indications. Thank you for reminding us to do that.

Perhaps the better traction may allow to benefit from a lower rear wing. Not tested yet
@DavidG53 do you guys have an estimated time for when the ai get fixed on slow speed corners and on the straights? i did a race today with the new patch and the ai were just rocket ships in a straight line its ruining the game for me so much
@DavidG53 I think the AI might be driving a little more than just better. Yesterday in my Brazil sprint race in career mode I was able to keep both the Mercedes and Red Bull pace (I'm in a McLaren which was a bottom 3 car before the update but managed to bring it in line with Mercs and Red Bull with upgrades), today after the update I was a second slower with the same difficulty percentage (100%) and was getting past like if I was a cone in the middle of the track, even though the performance update brought the McLaren closer to Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bulls.
Even worse, next race in Abu Dhabi I was 2 seconds slower than Lando in qualifying (23.5 by me, 21.6 him), even though before the update we were basically on the same pace in every track, with only a 0.1/.2 difference depending on the track we were racing.
I get that the AI might have been improved but 1.5/2 seconds with the same difficulty setting seems a bit too much. Generally speaking they seem to have retained the insane traction and straight line speed they had before the update without suffering from the enhanced understeer that was introduced in this patch. If you could give it a check it would be very appreciated, especially because I'm not the only one suffering from this issue.

Edit: the AI being extremely fast is a career mode issue only, I just tested Grand Prix and it works just fine. I don't know what's the problem specifically but it's almost like in career mode the AI are running with a fully upgraded car, hence why they might be so much faster than the player car (this is just speculation though).
