Driver ratings - the logic behind it?
So the driver ratings have been released and im wondering if we can get an explanation from the staff that does them @EA_Barry ? Im really struggling to see any logic other than - bad car = bad driv...

@Meza994 being civil and respectful is the baseline, really. There's no "if".

@mariohomoh IF you think so, its your right to have your opinion. Disregarding actual facts can be called a joke but everybody has their own sensitivity on when they feel its "hateful" or just a "a bit harsh".. Not that many devs take our feedback deep to heart anyway with our long wished for features of F1 Life and Supercars implemented🙃
- I don't pay attention to these numbers, last year Bottas destroyed Hamilton, even though he had lower numbers.
I don't see nothing wrong with driver ratings besides just really minor tweeks. If i remember correctly, someone posted today on the old forum that they won't buy this game because it will end up just modding it by itself and after that post it's coming here and are calling the devs work "joke" even if they won't buy the game 😃
To be honest i dont care what the individual ratings are. As its the personnel department that destroys the career/ myteam modes. After a few seasons all the drivers are boosted like plus 10, which just kills it for me.
i’m hoping they have made changes this year, but with how little career/ myteam has evolved, i doubt it.
- @Hempyjr to be fair, I don't think you have to be a paying consumer to be entitled to criticize a dev decision. Especially when said decision could be the very reason you're choosing to turn the product down.
It's just the tone. We can be 100% critical without being demeaning. Not saying that's the case here, but Meza seemed to have chosen their words badly saying they would keep it friendly and respectful "if" someone cared to explain whatever.
Like others here, I don't care that much about driver ratings. The system does indeed need to be looked into though and do a better job of decoupling the driver ratings from a car's limitations and unreliability. Codies seem to be aware of the issue already, so let's see how it pans out.
What @ajobling1983 points out though is equally if not even more important. Codies at least seem to be trying to address the former, but I don't remember they acknowledging and commenting on this one. @Hempyjr just fyi heres the differences the ratings make compared to the actual gaps that happened IRL between the teammates for dry qualifying and only taking into consideration when they both took part in a session, so not comparing Q2 times to Q1 times..
For the asterisks i would have normally excluded the Monaco results as they were not representative but like this its generally close to what Codemasters did but without the gaps would be smaller (Ocon closer to Alonso, Zhou closer to Bottas even before Baku and Canada)
Surely 0.25s per lap is completely negligible for F1 drivers (Perez to Verstappen) or 0.28s (Bottas to Zhou), and especially 0.15s at the front wouldnt change any results (Leclerc to Sainz) so you are right, theres nothing wrong.. Sorry for the sarcasm but thats laughable not even going into the problem of balancing car pace with driver pace causing Albon now to be slower compared to Verstappen than 2020 average (by my method - only dry and same session) which was 0.522s gap and by the current ratings its 0.64s while Albon is performing equally as Russel compared to Latifi.. And when even the drivers joke about the ratings because they think otherwise you know theres something not right..
Its a factual problem that drivers get only rated without the car being calculated out of it to 100% which results in ratings like last year Russel 84 pace and now magically jumping to 93.. Vettel performing better compared to Stroll and all expectations, team is happy yet he is supposed to have lost 0.2s according to this game.. Criticism is required for these things to get realistic but if you dont care for realistic results than thats fine for you.. Btw i didnt call the ratings a joke in this whole thread, was just replying to Mario but okay buddy😂
@mariohomohi think its just personal interpretation.. For instance when i say "If they reply" then i mean - in case anyone is willing to discuss this it will be a respectful discussion - what i felt was needed after people have attacked devs on this forum personally and i was ranting a bit too much recently.. Not making any indication that i will be disrespectful towards the algorithm or dear Mr. Crofty for his well founded knowledge if nobody replies, that one was just you expecting the worst from me.. Hope that cleared it up for you.
As I spend most off my time on the og proper forum😁. Have I been missing something😁. Guys where’s the love ❤️
