ERS, DRS, Slipstream is pretty bad

Either i have chosen the absolutely perfect difficulty setting on first try (which i doubt) or the ERS management and DRS effect is poorly done in this game.

You can not overtake. Its almost like in real life before the rule changes.

ERS is depleted very rapidly, at least for the player car

DRS effect is mildly effecting overtaking

Slipstream is not existent

Even in conjunction, ERS, DRS and Slipstream i was stuck behind the Ferraris <-> Red Bull on several tracks (Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Spain, Melbourne).  I found overtaking better in F1 2021. ERS was manageable and you had to think about it, especially on some tracks. On Zandvoort you barely recovered any ERS but on this game? You barely recover ERS on any track and it depletes so rapidly. ERS management modes would help but welp, there goes the casual aspect.

Whats your take on that?

  • Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your input regarding the DRS, ERS and slipstream.

It's really good feedback. We will pass it on to the team

@-BIA-DDDanny Was suggested quite a few times, but because it would require an artificial limitation to prevent the fast flickering of ERS modes that was the meta in previous games and a few people not wanting such a thing it will likely not return soon..

The realistic solution would be damage to the Power unit but this wont affect players in single races like online so it would still be fast mode changes for each corner.. theres just no way it will work in a game like it does IRL when IRL is always a season and ingame often only a shortened race...

But im with you in wanting this in the game as realistic as possible..
  • It would be enough to put it as an option in the lobby so you are free to play as you want, if one wants the complete ERS he puts it on, otherwise he leaves it standard as now ...
in this way you give the possibility to vary and give everyone the opportunity to play as they wish

@-BIA-DDDanny And Esports guys will take advance, flicker around like crazy and everyone sees that stuff and thinks - how stupid - ... As long as the game is meant to please the majority and not be as realistic as possible it will likely stay as it is sadly
  • @Meza994 I quite like how iRacing handles it now. You can change mode at any time, but it'll only actually switch when you cross the next sector line. Do wish they would have an overtake button though, but y'know... baby steps.

@ActuallyImJulie Its just another artificial limitation which certain people wont like im afraid.. Yes its working and i like that approach, overtake should always be treated extra but thats a different problem..

Ideally we get 2-3 modes we can decide the deployment rate of thats only changeable once per sector and are also choosable for qualifying as they do use lower ERS deployment in wet qualifying sessions than in the game.. Still dreaming haha
  • @Meza994 I'd argue the current system has the artificial limitation of only one available mode, so to me it doesn't really matter if a new system is a bit artificial as well.

Lesser of two evils and what not.

@ActuallyImJulie Im totally with you there, just had the exact discussion with people who rather had the current limitations instead of more realistic limitations haha, anyway lets just hope it gets improved someday!
