Cockpit view in game.
I've heard mixed reports on the matter. For myself (5900x/3080 - Reverb G2) performance in VR is worse with patch 1.06 and if I change video settings while driving (as TAA modes) the game will crawl to almost a freeze, sometimes recovering sometimes not. It never happened before, I could change settings on the fly without any issues, as it never happened to me that FPS took a sudden hit everytime particles (as smoke) appear firstly on the screen, or sometimes randomly while driving. I experience random frame timing spikes while before I was perfectly fine with the settings I had. Overall VR performance in my system has actually deteriorated with the patch. On the upside, however, visual quality is drastically improved while using TAA only so you can use that instead of TAA + Sharpening, recovering much of the performance loss.
What's your own experience with patch 1.06 and VR?
P.S: Also, CM, please introduce a setting to force the gaze to stay locked to the horizon in VR because mountains in the distance - for example - shouldn't be moving up or down with the movement of the camera. That's fine in 2D but in a 3D settings it feels really strange since that's not how human sight works. If you are at it then, you could also add some options to set how much the camera shake because with this last patch the latter seems increased to me (but it can be that's just placebo or I notice it more because frame times are more random than before).

Worse, before patch it crashed to desktop maybe 4 or 5 times during a race, now it CTD every 3 minutes

It can be that you have some setting that causes the crash. For example in patch 1.05 (I don't know if it still the case since I haven't tried) if you changed the vertical offset in the camera to the max or one step below the game would start to crash randomly while driving. Reverting back the setting or lowering the offset resolved the issue. I'm sure there are other settings that can cause issues in the same way because the QA hasn't had the time to test all the configurations possible.
Crashing issues are some of the worst issues to determine the cause of as there are countless of reason as to why it happens in a specific system.

@AmioramI've looked at my fpsVR stats before and after the update running the Miami track benchmark. Overall the average frame time is about the same as before. What I have noticed though is that areas such as the pit garage and starting grid line up now seem smooth where previously it had performance problems.
