Dear EA, or Codemasters, or whoever reads this,
Now, about this one, I could've put this one into Bug Reports, but since it's multiple things I want to touch, I'm putting them here.
First things first, about the AI... Unfortunately, the problems with them have hardly improved. While I recently took Pole Position in Monaco on Level 71 in the 4th best car, during the race itself, it hardly felt like the AI are slower in any way, and I did not touch the slider. I just don't get why you just use the AI from F1 2020, since those weren't so ridiculously overpowered, and I was able to play with no problems, but ever since F1 2021, it went downhill insanely fast with the AI. See, I don't want to dominate races in a car which is nowhere near a championship vehicle, but I also don't want to feel worthless because I can't make a move on someone unless I divebomb them and damage my car. This is not "creeping up the difficulty" like Codies tend to say, this is turning the whole franchise into a game for solely Esports players, and that's not fun.
Aside from that, I have found more issues that need to be taken a look at:
The first problem, which I had no idea about until now, you guys promised an Adaptive AI feature, which I never found until I watched a video telling me that the Adaptive AI is in the Casual Race Style. Now, I know I'm not a beginner anymore, but I sure would've liked to see what it does, because I hoped that it would be like this: "Win races, the AI improve - score no points, the AI become slower." So if it's possible, please put the feature into the Standard and Expert race styles too, because I felt like this was the main reason why I bought the game in the first place. And as of right now, the only way to have fun with the game is to play online, showing once again that this game is not user-friendly.- The second thing that I recently found, and I honestly can't believe you have done that... The effects of front wing damage are far too powerful. And do you know how awful this is? In Monaco, you just scratch the front wing, and it feels like no front wing at all. This has been the exact same thing in F1 2021 and people were also all over the place regarding this topic, and you just go ahead and ruin everything like you did last year. The damage model was perfect the way it was, because it allows for a bit more mishaps while still being able to keep up, and it made sense, because if you watched the IRL race in Silverstone, Leclerc lost the endplate, but still had stellar pace. That is a horrible, horrible programming error, and this needs to be reverted as soon as possible.
- And then the last error with the game, which also persisted from last year, the stupid quip about Aston Martin moving up in the Constructors Championship, even though they scored zero points, or did score points but don't move up the table. Heck, the commentator even says that when no single team moves up in the standings! That's insane, it makes zero sense! It almost seems like you guys expect the player to play Driver Career with Aston Martin and win every single race so they keep moving up the table.
In my honest opinion, F1 22 is still far from being a good F1 game. I even saw a video which claims that you guys at EA deliberately crash the franchise (no offense intended), and to be honest, the way the last game was, and the way this game develops, it almost feels like it. You don't think about the long term F1 fans who enjoyed all the Codemasters F1 games up to 2020... The way F1 22 feels is like you told Codemasters: "Guys, F1 2021 was so great, please continue just like that."
If anyone important reads this... I don't know what to say. I'm just saying the franchise was basically at its climax with F1 2020, and now, it completely turned for the worse, and it makes me cry just to think about it... 😭
I'm sorry if I was too extreme with my thoughts, but honestly, back when Codies did their magic until 2020, everyone enjoyed playing F1 games. And now, it feels like we went back in time...
See, I love F1 games, but I also criticize them as much as I love them. And this alone goes to show what kind of a passion I have for the sport in real life, and for the games, and I'm very certain that I'm not the only one here that feels the same.
They say that hope dies last, sure, and I still hope for the best, but honestly, I'm just about to give up and wait for next year.
I hope you guys understand my different perspective. If yes, then thank you for doing so.

- 3 years ago@LuckyNico92 Adaptive ai is not good if you are at least decent at the game. They shouldn’t put it in other modes
- 3 years ago@SomaticCoast375 Exactly, adaptive AI is pretty much just a fancy way of saying slow AI with some rubber band handicap.
- ajobling19833 years agoRising Ace@LuckyNico92 Monaco is probably not the best place to test the effects of 1.08 as cars never get close to top speed. So overall difference will be minimal.
Agree about Charles and the front wing though. - TomasSlb243 years agoRising Hotshot@LuckyNico92 Adaptive AI is not really good for experience players and I'm not sure if it works really in that way so I doubt it would be a good feature mainly for expert racers. The Aston Martin one doesn't bore me too much, there are worse bugs to fix now. But the front wing sensitivity is indeed a problem. Like you said Leclerc had a full race without an endplate and was the faster car on track till the safety car came out. Of course, if he had no damage he would be faster but the difference should not be 1/2 seconds compared to having the full wing. If the car got that slower when all the front wing is broken, it would be understandable, but only having a little bit of damage and the car is already undriveable is not right.

Patch 1.08 has been absolutely useless. Made no difference at all. AI is still ridiculously overpowered and the AI keep causing crashes. I’m doing McLaren career and in Bahrain, I’m lapping just shy of 2 seconds faster in qualifying compared to the fastest McLaren in real life.
@LeetezzdaugYou do know that McLarens were struggling like crazy in Bahrain and Bahrain in the game is about 2s faster than it should be? Possibly due to incorrect track dimensions or whatever but the gap top players have is too big.. Another factor is always career mode, engine upgrades improve your pace by at least 0.5s sooo yeah just a friendly hint at all the things that might cause such a gap between a game and real life results
- Hempyjr3 years agoSeasoned Ace@LuckyNico92 At least 2 out of the 3 "problems" you raised, are wrong. Adaptive AI it's not working like that, probably you must be new to F1 games. Adaptive AI it's working strictly in the race, if you are too fast the AI will be faster to catch you or if you are too slow he will became slower so you can catch him. The second one with front wing damage, depends how much damage do you take, if it's only slightly and it's still on green the car won't be so affected, if it's yellow or red it's normal to be affected. You guys raise more and more "problems" that are not there. Lower the AI, reduce damage, do whatever suites you but stop complaining about fictional "problems" because you can't play. I guess you are the old Nico from the old codemasters forum. You forgot to complain in your post about last year overtake from the last lap.
- LuckyNico923 years agoSeasoned Ace@Hempyjr The old Nico from the CM Forum would've probably complained about the last lap in Abu Dhabi. But that was not my choice to make, so what good would it do to complain about it?
Also, what makes you say I'm new to F1 games? I've been playing those games actively since F1 2015, and every single game since then up until F1 2020 was at least good.
Also, I said it in this post already, I had no idea the Adaptive AI feature existed to begin with, but well hidden, and since I didn't get to test it, I have no idea what it does. - TomasSlb243 years agoRising Hotshot@Hempyjr The wing damage is something that wasn't much of a problem and now is. Yellow damage is not having an endplate. Well, Leclerc didn't have one in Silverstone and the car was drivable, whereas in the game not having an endplate now makes the car almost impossible to drive making you lose time to everyone. If you tell me that not having a full wing or half of it was to drivable before, yes it's true. But the rest of the damage (slightly or even yellow damage) was fine. Remember that this cars do not depend on the wings to produce downforce compared to last years cars. They now depend much more on the floor, called "ground effect".

Now, you guys might have noticed that I crossed out the Adaptive AI thing. Well, that's because I recently tested it, one time with me pulling away, and one time with me waiting until they got a gap, and then playing catch up on the drivers.
One thing is obvious - I know why this is a feature for beginners, because even with the higher setting, Amateur, the AI just don't seem to adapt to my pace on track, therefore having me pull away with no trouble.
Also, with the Casual Race Style, you get all assists and immunity to damage, which is kinda pointless, if you ask me. 😜

Well said
F1 is in it’s golden era - it would be great to have a game that went hand in hand with what’s happening on track
right now - there is a lot of improvement that could be done for the serious racer and then for the rest who want to have a good game experience, sure lower the ai
but it seems the “engine” needs a load of work that this behemoth of a company just don’t want to put resources into
such a shame - maybe f1 need to get more involved - they are really focussing on the experience of the spectators at real events - they should be showcasing off the track and in peoples living rooms with the game as well !
I suspect once a monopoly gets hold of the licence then it stops competition - no real need to improve then is there 🙂
time will tell I suppose
