AI performance in Quali and in race is so different. I am able to compete in quali but in the race I am not able to keep up with them.

I havent been able to properly test as my first race after the patch was dry quali and full wet race.
however, i normally find it quite the opposite. AI are faster in quali and its easier to keep up with them in the race.
I tested last night, myteam at Miami and the AI were still rapid.
I lost up to 5 tenths in DRS on the straight so I'm hoping its just a Miami issue, will test further tonight

I installed the patch and my gamesave was in a race in Hungary.
this time i was more competitive than with the old patch and finished second, but i only finished seventh. - no penalties, i only had 0.0 petrol in the tank at the end
Verstappen had a 13 second lead and was ok after a couple of Safety Car calls - there were only 9 pilots in the race after a mass crash.
In Belgium I increased the AI by two points and I'm faster there with the yellow tires than the whole field.30 second lead
I still have to increase the AI and see how it is with the other routes.
more bugs:
if you use the radio too often, then you can no longer use it, not even to confirm the change of strategy from the engineer.
You have to reload the game and then it works again. - Gilles613 years agoNew Veteran

In MyTeam this patch actually fixed the issue. You can't imagine the happiness I felt when I was finally able to catch up and overtake a car with DRS.
But as TJPuhley wrote you need to raise the difficult by 5 points. I unfortunately rage quitted SPA before the patch when an Alpine left me in the dirt(11th place) while I had DRS and ERS and Slipstream. When I continued with the new patch I was not able change the difficulty before race and I won it even though I changed my front wing. I changed the difficulty after and the following races felt really good. My car is 3-5 in Vehicle comparison and I placed between 8th and 3rd.
- @Yahula111 Check front and rear wings.. maybe they are too high
Because in qualify, you use DRS everywhere available so you are quick on straights and curves.. on race, not always
Also, check the tyre temperatures. If they get higher than 104°C during race, the car get slower... This have more effect on race than qualify. If this is the case, change setup - LuckyNico923 years agoSeasoned Ace
Now, you guys might have noticed that I crossed out the Adaptive AI thing. Well, that's because I recently tested it, one time with me pulling away, and one time with me waiting until they got a gap, and then playing catch up on the drivers.
One thing is obvious - I know why this is a feature for beginners, because even with the higher setting, Amateur, the AI just don't seem to adapt to my pace on track, therefore having me pull away with no trouble.
Also, with the Casual Race Style, you get all assists and immunity to damage, which is kinda pointless, if you ask me. 😜
- TomasSlb243 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@Hempyjr The wing damage is something that wasn't much of a problem and now is. Yellow damage is not having an endplate. Well, Leclerc didn't have one in Silverstone and the car was drivable, whereas in the game not having an endplate now makes the car almost impossible to drive making you lose time to everyone. If you tell me that not having a full wing or half of it was to drivable before, yes it's true. But the rest of the damage (slightly or even yellow damage) was fine. Remember that this cars do not depend on the wings to produce downforce compared to last years cars. They now depend much more on the floor, called "ground effect".
