@jenny_a_mWhen will you release some improvements for the VR engine? The game is outstanding in VR and when it works fine it's one of the best looking VR titles out there, but there are still a lot of issues going on that aren't even acknowledged and it's a shame to see so much potential wasted. To name a few:
- Going below the headset refresh rate in FPS even just a little and/or momentarily causes stutters and tracking latency, something that shouldn't be the case - not at such a level anyway. This is one of the major problems people encounter when first trying VR in F1 22, and one of the most reported issues in the forum (that many exchange for general stuttering and general bad performance).
- Headset tracking is not in sync: even Dirt 2 had this issue that was then patched. The less the headset refresh rate and the more evident the desync is. All the camera implementation is really a mess, as for example turning your head up/down moves also all the image for a while, something that absolutely shouldn't happen in a 3D environment.
- The game is still not very stable in VR, and sometimes just changing certain settings (as going too far in the camera offsets) or going into the menu (as for example for a Flashback) can destabilize everything.
- There is no camera setting to tie to camera to the horizon (that's almost a must for VR), nor even just camera settings to control how much the camera shakes.
- No Variable Rate Shading: really I don't know why foveated VRS (or foveated rendering) is not available as an option in F1 22 that's a full DX12 VR implementation. Foveated rendering cannot even be enabled via OpenXR toolkit.
- CAS filter in TAA + Sharpening cannot be adjusted so it's very difficult to find a proper value for the resolution used, especially when Dynamic Resolution is enabled.
- DLSS sharpening filter doesn't work; if the sharpening settings worked DLSS would probably become the best option to use for quality/performance.
- No FSR 2.0 sharpening. I don't know why you decided to go with FSR 1.0 that's much worse and makes the option practically unusable given the blurriness.
- Custom resolution bypassing SteamVR doesn't work.
Plus in general I believe there are still performance optimizations possible to improve the experience, especially for what it concerns latency. Please take a little of time to work with the VR build as for many of us VR is very important.
