f1 2022 crossplay between Steam and Origin on PC

If I buy F1 2022 on Steam, can I play with my friend who bought it on Origin ?

    Hey everyone, 

    Origin and Steam will not be able to play online together. When crossplay is introduced later in development, then all platforms can play together in supported crossplay modes (Social Play and Two-Player Career modes)

Really hope it's true but I'm sceptical too. If they're confident this is going to be resolved quickly it would surely have made sense for EA/Codemasters to put out a statement to this effect?

    @Ultrasonic_77 That's what I thought aswell. Especially since the 2 threads for this topic seem to be the most active currently.

    @MisterJohnny420 humongous oof if true! What made you think that? The accounts were created one immediately after the other?

    I'll check it on desktop if it happens to still be on my mind. This forum on mobile is a PITA.

    They were called TheMalWareTX and TheMalWareTT I think and their only activity was liking his posts
