@EA_rephiiis just the messenger, and I do not envy the situation EA put they in having to deliver such a farfetched excuse for this anti-consumer measure from corporate.
Origin and Steam are glorified storefronts, basically. The product being commercialized there is a PC software.
This stance go against the grain of the whole videogame industry: crossplay is widely defined as being able to share features between consoles and PC, not between mere PC storefronts.
I'm in no position to deny there needing some work to enable consumers who got their PC software license from different vendors to play together, but to say that this is a byproduct of not having the true crossplay feature together is a straight up lie to our faces and a huge disservice to the developers.
This is an anti-consumer business decision, just that.
