In the settings of the PS5 there is a panel dedicated to the screen but I assume that there is still seen in 60 hz?
Thank you to everyone posting in this topic 🙂

If you're asking how you can be certain it's running at 120 Hz, on at least LG TVs you can get them to show you the current frame rate.
Nope, I’m using a monitor currently 60hz going to buy a 120+, that’s why I’m asking for

To clarify my previous post, F1 2021 runs at 120Hz with the TV mode set to 4K but the game may render at a lower resolution so we can assume 2022 will be the same/very similar.
@gundevilNL This goes for VRR too, thanks.

Sorry but I don't understand what your question was then?

It will for the purpose of handling small drops below the target frame rates of presumably 60 Hz or 120 Hz since no specific game support is required for this. Where games are noted as having specific support for VRR it means an additional charge like unlocking the frame rate or in some cases I think it's meant the addition of a 40 Hz mode for 120 Hz displays (although this could be done before VRR too as Ratchet did this).

How can I check frame rate (PS5) using a monitor. From what I understand you were speaking about a TV, but perhaps it’s only my lack of knowledge about since I don’t have a 120+ hz monitor yet, thanks anyway

F1 2021 indeed had the option to run at 120 FPS on the PS5, but the image resolution definitely drops. It’s subtle, but you’re not getting same image quality as you do in graphics mode. You notice it right from the loading screen.
There’s a smoothness to the gameplay that’s hard to describe when you bump up from 60 to 120 FPS though that’s probably worth the trade off for crispness of image - but I can’t wait for the day where 4K and high frame rates in gaming aren’t mutually exclusive!
I did a test on the PC version of the game with an AMD 5900x and GeForce 3080 with all of the graphics settings on ultra, and could only sniff 70 FPS. Without ray tracing and reducing shadow quality, 150 FPS in 4K was consistent. I saw a few videos online that showed even with a 3090, 120 was not achievable with max settings in 4K.

@AkingsOMG absolutely agree about 4k and 120 🙂
BTW anyone running the PS4 software version of F1 2021 in a PS5, in this case the 120 fps are possible?
Hopefully the bug with the steering wheel in cockpit view running at like 10fps is fixed when in 120hz mode. Was a few posts about it last year but was never addressed.
