Hello, im having trouble logging into my EA account when booting up the new F1 22 game. When it tries to go into the login screen, i get an error screen instead. It states "EA ACCOUNT REQUIRED" and when i press retry, it gous to the same screen again. My steam and origin account are connected.
Hello, I can't login to my EA account. The error I'm getting is the one below and I have to options Retry and Cancel and when I press retry the error pops up again and nothing else happens. I do have origin installed and the steam account connected to my EA account. Is there anything I can do to fix the error?
EA Account Required
In order to connect to F1 Online Services you will need an EA account. Skipping this sign up/in process will put the game in to Offline Mode. You can sign up/in using the Retry option below or using the Retry Connection option in the main menu.

You have got to be kidding me. I wiped windows os off my steam deck. I reinstalled steam os. F1 22 works fine. So I wipe steam os and reinstall windows os from scratch again on my steam deck. Install all the drivers and install f1 22. Game worked fine and got the overlay pop up to log in to my account yesterday. Today, it won't connect and I get the EA account required error. Codemasters fix the game on PC for Steam users to force the pop up overlay to log into your account. Patch this game already.

UPDATE: Managed to contact customer service on Twitter via @ EAHelp over the weekend and got a private DM on this technical issue. Turns out I have login under my Googlemail account and it only recognize my EA account/profile for PlayStation and my Switch (got EA games on the Nintendo platform). See attached screenshot regarding connection.
Since I am playing F1 22 on my Xbox, I thought it was my Gmail account and have reset my password several times but it didn't work. Then I remember that I signed into my Xbox Series X with a different email address - in my case Hotmail. So I login under my Hotmail (as it's part of Microsoft), reset the password and checked my EA account/profile. The connection under my 'second' EA account has Xbox Live.
Loaded up F1 22 on Xbox Series X and it connected to the game's online services and that annoying 'EA Account required' message disappeared! So I can now access the online/multiplayer and other content including items for customization.
So my advice, remember your original email account when signed into your PlayStation ID or Xbox Gamertag. Use your same email to sign in to your EA Account and then check your game connection under your profile. Make sure it has the PlayStation Network on Xbox Live linked or connected to your EA Account. If so, then check your game and hopefully it links up and you can access the online part of the game.

SOLVED / PC / STEAM
Remove special characters in your steam username and try again.
After removing the special characters in my steam name I was finally able to log in after 4 days of searching the internet and trying to find a solution.
FIFA provided an error code, which finally pointed me to the issue.
