@SertacKaratepe_ Ok, let me first start off by saying my main issue is not spinning but the tedious throttle control you need to do to not spin being incredibly unrealistic and yes I drive without no TC.
"It means considering these demands, developers will trim the realistic aspects of the game into an arcade which can be played around by anyone."
Secondly, the main point of the post was that the throttle control and instability is not a realistic aspect and is only here to artificially increase the difficulty. Actual f1 drivers such as Lando have said that medium tc is closer to real-life grip than no tc, if the system was close to actual f1 driving then I would not have made this post, but it's not.
You are acting like people are asking for spinning to be removed entirely but that is not at all what has been said in this thread from what I have seen, they are saying and suggesting for grip and stability to be increased to a more realistic level based on telemtary footage of f1 drivers driving
Your opinion on this game being the most realistic game in the f1 franchise might be true about the handling and tyre models, but certainly not about the throttle control. If you want a "decent f1 simulation game" then try out a sim like Asseto Corsa and Iracing (both of which simulate f1 cars with a higher level of grip and have less tedious throttle control; oh wait thats not what you want!)
Your entire argument about making grip higher ruining a realistic aspect makes no sense, as it was stated before several f1 drivers have stated the traction and grip was closer to real life when traciton control was on.
- 3 years ago@LittleAmigoBrit You are missing a gigantic point. F1 drivers do not practice in F1 games except for track acclamation or stuff. Before throttle control, there’s so much unrealistic thing about F1 games. The main point is, for being budget friendly and official, f1 games should be more sim like for customers like us. Currently, the cars in the game are surely drivable you can check my video out. Yes it should be difficult without and driving aids. If anyone finds it is too much, they can use assists or casual game mode. I play Assetto Corsa most of the time. Sf70h my comfort car to satisfy my need for a real life f1 car. I drove mp4-29 in iracing as well. They are difficult to drive too. Maybe not throttle but other things such as tyres, physics, car behavior, hybrid system etc. if I were one percent sure that devs would do such a pyhsics abs car models, I would totally agree with you. They won’t. They are gonna turn the game into another nfs if you complain about the difficulty.

@SertacKaratepe_ I understand where you are coming from but with f1 22 they have made several things much more realistic but instead, they've taken a step back in throttle realism. As you said the game should be more sim-like, which is why I made this thread, because I've played sims like Asseto Corsa with f1 cars, and they are difficult to drive, but their throttle is nowhere near as tedious as the f1 games, and the grip they have is much more, so actually increasing grip would make it more sim-like if done right.
I understand your concern about whether Codemasters will be able to do this without making it incredibly easy to drive, but honestly, with the improved handling and tyre model this year I think they can increase grip in a way where the cars won't be easy to drive but throttle controlling won't be as tedious as it currently is
- 3 years ago
If they do that so, I’m onboard. But I have rightfully big concerns.
Grip is good as it is, and won't be changed.
An improvement to engine torque and general total torque per gear to allow better throttle application, therefore giving more confidence to the player under acceleration, is coming as soon as possible. But this will be the last tweak to the base handling.

@DavidG53 @A wee adjust to how much wheel slip in either max or med TC obviously wouldn’t affect the cars handling physics
- 3 years ago@DavidG53 will short shifting be overpowered as previous games?
- 3 years ago@SertacKaratepe_ atm yes, with the upcoming update, in theory, not so much.
@DavidG53 Are we talking days, weeks or months? This is really important for our league. Thank you.

Thanks for this notice. I think this will make a huge difference actually. The issue really seems to be persistent in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear and that's where it's the most frustrating because you should be under good grip and higher levels of downforce at that point limiting the wheel slip. Glad to hear there's a fix coming and I'm not going crazy trying to figure out why there's so much slip in the higher gears still.

I think we need more grip. Even if the compound of this tyres is harder, grip is not enough.
we feel driving on the ice sometime not loss traction it closer to sliding.
Instead of that tyre damages should be harsh. Many esports drivers drive like qualifying in their race videos(like last to first). If I drive not carefully like real onboard videos, tyres should be gone very early.
I dont know exactly more undesteer and more traction can coexist
that would be way to balance. - 3 years ago
Just a thought about losing the rear and spinning when applying power. This has been a problem since years in CM F1 games and forces you to drive differently (short shifting, applying progressive power, …) and I agrée with all that has been said here.
I try something I never did : increasing the throttle linearity to 100 or less and for me this works. I mean I can drive without any TC normally (like you can do in other games). I’m totally happy with it. 2 laps to get used and that’s it (instead of countless hours learning to drive without unrealistic TC).
This is just an idea and I would like to have your feedback on it.
you know, i tought to try that but i never did it.
Thank you, i will definetily do it now that i red you, thank you! - 3 years ago
damn, imagine arguing over a point which is proven by rl videos and real f1 drivers. The understeer was always a big issue in the codies games. Hope they will work on that.

@gizt7 the telemetry overlay for brakes is known to be just a on/off indicator. Both because braking is arguably the most important driving input and because it's hard to do it live given how the pedal is responding to pressure, not to distance traveled.
@Artax04 This is not on grip. As the handling dev said here already, grip levels are fine. It is as @SertacKaratepe_ pointed out, you can still break traction in high grip scenarios if you put power down beyond the limit of adhesion
Keyword here is power, torque at the wheels. Again, as the devs said here, traction has been under significant rework for a while now with an update on the pipelines for soon.
Torque and grip are closely related, but completely different. The current issue has been singled out as being on the former, grip is fine.
If you're going to bring crypto mining into the discussion as a factor that practically trivializes paying for hardware and software, mate I'll have a hard time thinking of something even more wacky and out of touch to top that.
- 3 years ago@DavidG53 I think you should talk to Lando Norris (and others) then who even said it is far from realistic on the 2021 game. The start vs normal running is crazy. Starts are broken in this game, with even low revs & a hair of throttle you spin out. I love challenge, but this is ridiculous... Certainly when TC is off & I qualify top 5 easily. But on start I spin out or have to be so slow I end up back of the grid lol.

"increasing the throttle linearity to 100"
=> That setting does magic indeed if one struggles, and I use it both on wheel software or in game if need be.
But the fact that even with that the starts are still as if you are on ice, even with low revs is beyond me. - 3 years ago
mining payed for my pc and i play for free, and a lot of my friend did the same, why mining should be a problem?
All gamers with high end pc for free on steam... do you think they payed the pc??
I will never understand gamer that blame mining, when all the miners are just gamers who don't want to pay in the beginning.
You should blame big mining farms, cause that is no sense, but not mining in general. - mariohomoh3 years agoRetired Hero
@Artax04 wrote:mining payed for my pc and i play for free, and a lot of my friend did the same, why mining should be a problem?
This encapsulates the gist of it.
I'm not bashing on the ecological issues of the activity, pal. But on how narrow and short sighted of an analysis one needs to do to propose crypto mining as a quick and easy fix to money problems feasible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
It's quite literally written down on your own comment. Even if it indeed worked out for you and your friends this time, you cannot extrapolate that and suggest that it should work for anyone else in the present, short or medium term. And that's assuming your pen & paper breakdown was accurate enough to account for all mining costs, which is very often not the case with "enthusiasts".
- 3 years ago@mariohomoh Well said. The torque issue makes sense. I look forward to the changes that coming soon. Grip overall does feel good and I'm easily keeping up with the AI in entry and mid corners. It is corners exits that are the most challenging because I have to be more hesitant with the throttle than it appears the AI does. However, I've found a sweet spot with my G920 wheel today. Throttle linearity at 10 and using setups with the on throttle DIFF at 75 or less. I've gotten a better feel for the game now and my lap times are climbing. Finally won a race at Bahrain with 95AI starting from 6th as Perez.

@SertacKaratepe_ back on the days of the initial lockdown, when the 2020 season gor all messed up and drivers found themselves with tons of free time confined in their homes, streaming took flight and you'd see Leclerc, Norris, Russell, Albon and even Checo (!) playing F1 2019 online.
Codemasters obviously pounced on the opportunity and implemented some of the drivers' feedback on that year's game, F1 2020. The relevant feedback for this discussion was that of Russell or Norris, don't remember which, talking about how the TC on medium felt way more realistic than TC off.
That got significantly better on F1 2020.
Perhaps they spoke about traction on the following games too, but that was the main course of this dinner. It really doesn't make sense to use feedback given on F1 2019 and acted upon on F1 2020 to criticize F1 22, that's misleading.
There was Norris complaining about driving in the wet in F1 2021 too I think, but that was more of a "hey check me playing this game for the first time and being a goofball" kind of thing. Not really relevant.
If any links pop up with relevant feedback on traction and grip from drivers for F1 2021 onwards, I'd love to check it out. - 3 years ago@mariohomoh This littleamigobrit guy has been insisting for days that there are particular f1 drivers who say f1 22 is unrealistic. If this guy honestly means that lockdown process and f1 22 game, somebody should wake him up to show the new era of the cars.
Back in the days, downforce of the cars produce mostly came from the front and rear wings and sidepods. But now, it comes from the floor. My generalization of not taking seriously the guys who complain about the traction is based on this. They do not understand the fundamental of the car. The downforce distribution is like 25% front wing, 50% floor and 25% rear wing. Thus, there is much less downforce on front and rear end of the cars and that means less grip under acceleration and slow corners compared to previous years. Especially 2019-2020 years. (If “those people” thinks that those games were way more realistic) those cars were insanely aerodynamic. And tyres of course. They are completely different too.
And, littlebritguy, if you’re too considerate about realism, why don’t you ever mention about the ridiculous brake balance meta? How come an f1 car does not lose control under heavy braking with 50% brake bias?
Short shifting is a decade meta on f1 games what about it?
So please, for the sake of any deity that you believe. Stop whining and adapt!… you already took the promise from David about recalibration of the torque levels under low gears. Aren’t you happy already? But I fear that they will make acceleration easier and less competitive and less talent demanding.
