@Oogiee11Don't rely on short shifting like the past games, the PU had quite a lot of torque at low rpm, but smooths out at the peak. Also try not to push too deep into the corner which forces you to turn the steering too much mid corner when accelerating.
Even with med trc games not fun on a pad. I have no confidence with my steering inputs corrections or throttle input. I'm starting to give up when gt7 does a great job on a pad. In a game like this u need confidence and be in control, I feel in control of neither.

I am on a wheel but think this still applies….
Someone suggested changing the tire temp settings to “surface only”. I was reluctant to try this since I feel like I am removing a feature but gave it a shot after getting stomped again in a race. I am still running practice sessions in my for first race with the setting changed. But, it does impact my control and give the car predicable behavior. For the first time in this years game, I feel like if I spin, I can quickly know why or where I made the mistake. I don’t know if this will help the straight line speed issue. But it is worth a try to increase control out of corners.
