F1 22 is stuck "Connecting to Online Services" for an indefinite amount of time

I am on Steam, PC platform

I'm having what I believe is a similar issue to the crash issues. My game is not crashing, but appears to be stuck in a middle-ground screen where "communicating with online services" (see screenshot) and a yellow spinny wheel show up for an indefinite amount of time. There is motion from the loading graphic, so the screen isn't frozen. I've waited for up to 30 minutes with no observed progress. This started on Monday.

I've tried the following, not necessarily in order:
-Reinstall the game
-restart my modem/router (worked on Aug 23 and then hasn't worked again)
-flush DNS

-manually assign DNS

-repair/reinstall windows
-launch the game without my wheel plugged in
-launch the game from a different device

-launch the game on wifi

-disable steam overlay and Desktop Game Theatre

-verified my game files

Things I have not tried:
updating my BIOS

Both my Windows and graphics drivers are up to date. I've tried launching previous F1 games (F1 2021) and they were able to reach the main menu. I'm also able to access the Internet and play other online games without issue.

@EA_Atic

update Aug 28: BIOS update did not fix the issue

Update Aug 28 10:40pm PST: launching the game in offline mode allowed me to get to the main menu, however when I went back into online mode, the game now has the same "communicating with online services" graphic, but from inside the game. I am able to navigate menus freely.

Update Aug 29: It appears that my issue was related to steam cloud, possible a desync in my cloud save and my local save. Disabling steam cloud allowed me to reach the menus!

I'm having issues since I bought this game in October 22. The crossplay function is cooked (I'm using PS5) and I have brought it up in the forum many times. The only way I can play this game is if I disable crossplay and then I will be able to load a lobby and join. This is disappointing as the reason I bought the game was for the crossplay functionality.

  • Hi Jenny,

i’m experiencing the same problem. I haven’t been able to play the game for two months now. Please help everyone to resolve this problem?

now forced to play F1 2021 online with friends…☹️

  • yeah this issue has become really common in the f1 game. it seems like new bugs come into the game every year instead of having less bugs unfortunately.

    I have the same problem in 3 games. F1 22 Steamversion, F1 23 Steam and F1 23 EA Version.

It works, I host practices and races. F1 22 works very well.
