F1 22 Strict Track Limits

In F1 22 (strict rules) You get track limits warnings and 3 second penalties if only one or 2 of your wheels touches or slightly goes past the white line, in actual f1 as long as 1 wheel is still inside of the track, then you are considered to be in track limits. The current track limits system for strict rules is incredibly frustrating and leads to invalidated qualifying laps and penalties which otherwise would've have been given and would have been considered valid

This system really needs an update to make it more accurate to how it works irl and can ruin close races

  • @LittleAmigoBrit This doesn't seem correct to me. I've never got a warning for crossing a line with 2 tyres. Let alone if only one tyre touches the white line.

Have you got any examples where you'd get a warning for crossing the line with only one or two tyres?

I have to agree with @LittleAmigoBrit, I play with strict track limits all of the time and I've never been given a warning for only putting two tires off track.

In fact, a couple of days ago, I was looking at the replay mode at Austria time trial because I was sure I had invalidated the upcoming lap as I had gone wide on the final corner of the previous one. But, actually, I'd ended up with two tires completely off of the track and two tires still touching the white line, and it happily counted it as valid (it came right down to a couple of millimetres!).

I have had moments in the past where I've been given a warning, was 99% sure I was still on the track, would watch the replay, switched to the external camera and found that, no: I was clearly off of the track.

@zed08je0ot2v I think there are a few which I always find incredibly frustrating - I play with TV pod cam so in these circumstances I can physically see that my wheel is still on the track but I still get the warning. The ones that spring to mind are the kerb at Canada T9 (the left hander following the DRS in the middle of the lap) and Austria T8 (the right hander after the double left down the hill.

I think my main complaint is the inconsistency compared to some other corners really - there’s some corners in the game you can get away with a lot (T12 at Canada for example) and some where it’s really harshly punished
  • @zed08je0ot2v This post is about strict track limits so I assume the reason as to why you've never had this issue is because you don't/haven't played on strict rules

@Tribladez In austria TT (which is strict) the first ss counted as invalid due to track limits In General the entire system is just incredibly inconsistent and you get warnings 1 lap then the next lap you do the exact same thing and get nothing

@LittleAmigoBrit  You should post a video of that scenario (or anything similar) invalidating a lap (or giving you a warning during a race, same difference) if that's actually what's happening to you, because that is grossly incorrect if it is. I've never seen anything close to that before (not just in this game, across the entire series).

Do you play on Cockpit view?  And do you watch the replay when you get the warning?

I ask as I play on the Cockpit cam and every single time I get a warning I'd swear and bet a ton of money I did not have all 4 tires off the track, and every single time I watch the replay, all 4 tires go off the track lol.

I've never seen an examples/replay where I got the warning but all 4 tires did NOT go off the track.
