So I can see the active chat icon and the person's username at the bottom of the screen when someone is talking but I cannot hear them, all I hear is the game audio. Is this a game bug, or is it my settings? Does anyone else have this problem?

I think I've heard of similar reports, and reports that the game tries to play the voice chat audio from another audio device, such as speakers instead of headphones. Could you report back to me with your audio settings? I may not be able to resolve the issue, but I will take a look if there's something I could deduct from it
Additionally, what platform are you running the game on?
Try disabling all other microphones you have.
I found this worked for me.
I am running it on my computer with headset. 2021 worked but (bought on Steam) my son has the same issue on his ps5
I figured it out.. in cross play this function, chatting with online members on different platforms are not supported (yet) hopefully they will make this work...
overall vocal commands work though(talking to pit crew fe)
