  • Same problem. AMD Ryzen 7900X3D, Nvidia 4090, Meta Quest Pro, high-end SSDs, 64GB RAM... Top of the line equipment that runs DCS World on maxed-out settings and EA's Star Wars Squadrons in VR at "Ultra" with no problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled F1-22. I've made sure to reboot the PC with the goggles attached and turned on. I have the Quest app launched and the goggles in Link mode before launching the game. I can launch the game in flat-screen mode with no issue, but when the small pop-up window asks if I want to launch in VR, I instantly get this message. Is there a different version of the game that needs to be installed for VR to work? I installed the version that is available through Xbox Gamepass Ultimate. Game is installed on a drive that is dedicated to games, rather than the Windows system drive. Whatever is happening here, it's a software issue. How do we point the game to the correct installation path??!!

I finally figured out why this was happening on my system. I had not installed Steam and SteamVR. Even though I was getting access to the game through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the EA App and even though I can play EA's other game, Star Wars Squadrons perfectly fine without Steam VR installed, F1 2022 seems to use Steam VR and won't work without it. It's a huge pain. I have to launch my Meta Quest Oculus software, enable the PC link, open SteamVR, then open F1 2022, which seems to launch the EA app as well, and then figure out how to navigate the Steam VR environment on top of the Meta environment and then figure out how to get my gamepad controller to work instead of the game wanting me to play it with the VR handsets... It's cumbersome to say the least, but I WAS able to get it working and drive in full VR glory. Now I want a proper simulator wheel and pedals because playing with an Xbox Gamepad is terrible compared with what the game can obviously do. The throttle and brake modulation with the gamepad is like light switches and you really need to let it do the shifting for you, but it works. Given the limited field of view from inside the cockpit, I don't know how valuable the VR experience really is. If you had a very wide, curved screen or even a sim-pit with a 3-screen setup, the VR would be irrelevant. It's not like a flight sim where you can look back over your shoulder; your head is pretty well locked in the forward position.
