F1 23 Release Date
So I want to know when we think we will get the game released this year? My thinking and i know its early days but I believe we could get it on 7th July for a standard release with 4th/5th July as ea...
I don't think they need to sacrifice a year and i don't believe that's the solution. What they should do, is to hire more devs helping the current teams (if i understand correctly, they have 2 teams working on F1) resolving the current bugs and then focus on new features, handling, etc. All they have to do is to hire more devs and lose some money (their salary), which on long terms, i think it will bring them more money because a better and complet game + features the community ask for can only lead to higher sales.
Are they allowed to give the rights to make the licensed F1 game to two different game companies at the same time?
This would be so good, because both companies would challenge each other to make a better and better game, almost like a race to make the best F1 game possible. And, from FOM’s perspective, they could make more money selling the right to two different companies (sure with two companies having the rights they would be worth less, but they’d definitely still be expensive).
Besides, it’s not as though EA (at the end of their current deal until the end of 2025) could go ‘No, we don’t want to let you sell the rights to another company as well.’ Because it’s FOM in charge, not EA.
The FIFA one is a great example. I think FOM should definitely strongly consider selling the rights to another company. It’s a win for them, a win for us, and ultimately, a win for the game developers as they push each other to make better and better games.
Also, there is nothing forcing us to buy both games made by both developers. We just get to choose the one that we think is better or has something we really want in the game. But, by all means, if you wanted to buy both games, you definitely could.
I don’t think it would make it financially viable tbh. Football games have a gigantic player base. F1 specific games don’t. If 2 developers released a F1 game equally as good/bad. Would mead a 50 50 market share give or take. So with that sort off risk development budgets would be smaller meaning higher likelihood off a worse game

FOM could choose to do whatever they want once the current contract ends (subject to any long term clauses) but games companies will pay more for exclusive rights which I think is why this is how it tends to go with moet games. It's also probably more straightforward for the rights holder to just deal with a single games company to be honest.
It's on console where the lack of competition is the biggest factor I think as there's no alternative way to race all the F1 tracks, unlike on PC I believe. For me personally it's the tracks that more than anything else that makes me stick with the F1 games. I don't own GT7 for example.
@Ultrasonic_77I own GT7 waste off £70… Single player So boringly dull. Cafe books is almost as bad as F1 Life. If sophy gets fully implemented I may play it again. But like you I also hate pretend tracks no matter how good they may be

I watched some of the early gameplay when GT7 first came out and this was rather the impression I got. Graphically I thought it looked good but faffing about 'racing' pretty uninspiring cars for ages didn't really appeal. I don't have the time/energy to play games as much as I'd like so decided I'd stick to just being able to driving an F1 car when I did 🙂.
Pretend tracks don't really interest me. Driving the real F1 tracks is very complimentary to watching real F1 races for me - it gives me a little insight into what the real drivers are doing and whilst I'm under no illusions about the game's realism it is nice to feel I get to experience a little of what they do.
The single biggest appeal to me of the F1 23 game will be the Losail track. Las Vegas I have pretty low expectations for in terms of being fun to drive but it will still be interesting to try.

Can't be worse than Miami.
Do we have any idea or guesses about when we’ll get more info on F1 23? It’s been almost two weeks since they teased it. Surely more info is coming soon?

Nope. And the longer we don't the less likely I think an earlier release than last year is looking. Somebody may simply have thought it was an easy and reasonable thing to do to announce that the game was coming when the 2023 season started.
We'll get more information when we do. No real point spending any time thinking about this until we do.
Fair enough.
Based on previous years’ experience, is there any pattern between the teaser and the more informative announcement, in terms of days?
Ok! And do you have an idea of what the pattern is?
@Radoko34My recollection is that we've usually had video teasers first recently. What we've had this year is something new. You have access to Google to do your own research if you really want to know, but you still won't know when the new game will come out any earlier than the rest of us. Even if we had an announced launch date it could be delayed!
