F1 Manager 22 & F1 22 Race Strategy

I've seen a lot of videos from F1 Manager 22 (live streams) and noticed fuel and ERS management to be a thing. Maybe over simplified, but clearly, part of the team strategy. The 3 main aspects you control in a race from a strategy standpoint  (except pits of course) are PACE, FUEL & ERS in the F1 Manager 22 game.

In F1 22 PACE is controlled by the driver. ERS is OVERTAKE only and FUEL is basically not something you can control anymore since F1 2020.

Don;t you agree that F1 22 should offer the option to adopt race strategies that align with the methods used in the management game? particularly FUEL and ERS management?

  • @Bojote I agree about ERS. It is lacking in this years game.
For fuel, the player can lift and coast and not push as hard to conserve fuel. So, theoretically it should not be needed. It is also against the rules to have different fuel mappings.
However, I still think it would be useful from a gameplay perspective to add a ‘low’ engine mode to aid the player if they underestimated fuel usage. It would make the game more approachable and eliminate the possibility of your race being completely ruined by running out of fuel.

I’m not sure it makes sense to compare the two games though. EA is clearly steering F1 22 away from being a sim-cade to an arcade style game. F1 manager appears to be aiming at the hardcore simulation audience (spreadsheet level depth, no multiplayer).
  • @Bojote No!!!! Because you are then relying on the game to make the right choices.. they can’t even get the weather right: before the race or in the race: then take fuel load for race. Despite doing 5 lap race program it still can’t calculate optimal fuel load. And we end up having to best guess.

Giving us the driver control off ers management.. is the best solution.
